We're officially less than 20 days away from the second season of Dexter: Resurrection hitting our TV screens, and the first ten days following the franchise's 20th anniversary have actually been packed with exciting events as part of Paramount+'s marketing campaign. And it all took place in New York City.
One of those events was PaleyFest NY, held on the evening of Friday, October 9, at the Paley Museum in Midtown Manhattan. After a long day of press interviews, a select group of cast members walked the red carpet before an exclusive panel brought together several stars and key members of the Dexter: Resurrection team.
Michael C. Hall, Uma Thurman, Jack Alcott, James Remar, Kadia Saraf, Bokeem Woodbine, and producers Marcos Siega, Scott Reynolds, and Clyde Phillips took part in the conversation, sharing some wonderful insights with the hundreds of fans watching them live inside the theater.
Inside the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 PaleyFest NY Panel
Unfortunately, fans who couldn't attend the event missed out on the conversation. Unlike the Dexter: Resurrection panel at New York Comic Con the day before, which was streamed live for 40 minutes, the PaleyFest NY panel wasn't broadcast live anywhere. Attendees were also not allowed to record the event, meaning that what was said inside the theater was actually reserved for those in attendance and members of the press.
Despite that, we have learned a few things about what went on inside the Bennack Theater.
The evening began with an advance screening of Episode 1 of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, giving the audience an early look at the premiere before the conversation turned to the new season. Just like at the NYCC screening the previous day, the rules were strict, with attendees not allowed to take photos or record videos on their smartphones.
The conversation between the cast and crew was moderated by Deadline TV Editor Rosy Cordero.

The celebration was also part of a milestone year for PaleyFest NY, which introduced its first-ever PaleyFest Award to recognize excellence in media and entertainment among its participating programs. During the conversation, Clyde Phillips received the award, as you can see in the image above.
Michael C. Hall Reflects on 20 Years of Dexter
With Dexter celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Michael C. Hall reflected on the show's remarkable staying power and the continued excitement surrounding the character after all these years. “Twenty years later it is mind blowing, I had no anticipation it would be as broadly appealing.”
Hall also offered a hint at where we find Dexter when Resurrection returns for Season 2. When audiences first encounter him in the new season, Dex has actually recommitted himself to the code that has governed his actions for so long. However, as Hall said, that doesn’t really prove to be enough.

Jack Alcott and Bokeem Woodbine Share Insights Into Their Characters
The conversation also gave a few interesting insights into what fans can expect from the characters in Season 2. Jack Alcott described Harrison as being nowhere near his father when it comes to the urge to kill. However, he actually suggested that there's still a little something there for his character, leaving room for more to be explored.
Bokeem Woodbine, who plays a new character named Captain Mixon, also hinted at unexplored dimensions of his character. With Mixon expected to be close to Harrison in the new season, thanks to both working at the same place, Woodbine acknowledged that there's a darkness within the captain that he has yet to fully understand.
When discussing why Dexter continues to appeal to audiences after all these years, Woodbine had a simple explanation: “What really appeals to people is hte level of intelligence of the script.”
Since people we've been in contact with here at Dexter Daily attended the event, we'll have more information about the conversation soon, including more interesting details and new revelations from the cast and crew. So... stay tuned for more Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 updates!
