Dexter fans recently received some exciting updates about the upcoming second season, including a teaser trailer that featured some quick glimpses of what’s to come. Among those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments is a brand-new kill room scene featuring Dexter Morgan, and after closely examining the footage, we can now reveal exactly which episode it comes from.
The scene is incredibly brief, with a few shots flashing by so quickly that the teaser needs to be paused multiple times to catch all the details.
In one of the clearest moments, Dexter is actually dressed in an all-black variation of his classic kill outfit. His victim is already captured and wrapped in plastic on the kill table, with Dex seemingly ready to carry out the kill. Just before that, we see Dexter filling a syringe with M-99, followed by a blurry glimpse of his collection of tools.
Another especially interesting shot shows a mysterious white male lying on the table. Trying to identify the actor from the extremely brief footage was impossible, which means that this is an entirely new character and not someone we have already seen in previous announcements or set photos.
At first glance, the location may actually look somewhat similar to Leon Prater’s hidden vault from Season 1. The arches and some of the walls certainly give off a familiar feeling, but this is almost certainly not the same location.
By this point in the story, Prater’s vault should have gone through significant changes after the NYPD discovered it. With three years now confirmed to have passed since the events of the first season, there is no reason to believe the location would still exist in exactly the same form.
Instead, all signs point toward the scene taking place in a cellar.
The design of the room, the wine bottles built into the walls, the glass-door refrigerator, the lack of natural light and the large barrel all seem to support that theory.
Which Episode Is the Kill Room Scene From?
The teaser itself did not actually reveal which episode the footage comes from, but there is another important clue.
A promotional still released in late July appears to be from the exact same scene and episode. The image, which can be seen at the top of this article, shows the aftermath of the kill, with Dexter having already chopped up the victim and placing the remains into a trash bag.
After investigating the footage and the promotional material, we can confirm that the kill room sequence featured in the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 teaser is from Episode 4, which is directed by Erica Dunton.
Who Was Dexter’s Victim?
The teaser also gives us a small but potentially important clue about the person Dexter is hunting. More specifically, in one of the rapid shots, photographs can be seen hanging above the victim wrapped in plastic. One of those images appears to show a family of three: a mother, a father and their daughter.

That could provide a clue about exactly what this mysterious victim has done, although the footage is just way too brief for us to draw any conclusions.
So, there we have it. Those are all the details we were able to spot from the super quick kill room footage in the new Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 teaser.
Details about the actor playing this particular villain, as well as the exact nature of his storyline, remain scarce for now. Still, Dex’s determination throughout the sequence suggests that whoever is lying on that table has actually given him a very good reason to do what does.
