Is Season 1 of the Dexter sequel series coming to Netflix?
Dexter: Resurrection recently wrapped up its 10-episode first season, and fans are still buzzing about the continuation of the franchise. With so much excitement surrounding the series, the question on everyone’s mind is twofold: will Paramount finally renew Dexter: Resurrection for Season 2, and could Season 1 eventually make its way to Netflix?
As a direct continuation of Dexter: New Blood, the new series begins just ten weeks after Dexter Morgan is shot in the chest by his own son. Against all odds, Dexter wakes up from a coma only to find Harrison missing without a trace. Haunted by guilt and determined to make amends, he sets his sights on New York City in a desperate search to find his son and rebuild their broken bond.
The revival doesn’t hold back on big names either. Not only does Dexter: Resurrection bring back fan-favorite Angel Batista, but it also introduces new characters portrayed by A-list actors including Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, David Dastmalchian, Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, and Eric Stonestreet.
Is Dexter: Resurrection Coming to Netflix?
Unfortunately for fans hoping to binge the new season on Netflix, the answer is no — at least not anytime soon. Dexter: Resurrection is a Paramount+ exclusive, and the streaming service has no plans to license the show to Netflix. Just like Dexter: New Blood and the recently cancelled prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, the latest installment is part of Paramount’s strategy to drive new subscriptions to its own platform rather than share rights with competitors.
In other words, if you want to catch every twist and turn of Dexter’s return, Paramount+ is the only place to do it.
What About the Original Dexter Series?
While Dexter: Resurrection is locked to Paramount+, longtime fans might remember that the original Dexter (Seasons 1–8) has been available on Netflix multiple times in the past. The most recent licensing deal kept the show on U.S. Netflix for a year, but that deal ended in June 2025.
Although both Netflix and Paramount reportedly considered extending the deal, negotiations fell through, and Dexter once again left the Netflix library.
Could Things Change in the Future?
With Paramount+ now under new leadership following its merger with Skydance, there’s always a chance that licensing strategies could evolve. If Paramount decides that reaching broader audiences outweighs exclusivity, Netflix could once again become a home for Dexter content. For now, though, all signs point to Dexter: Resurrection staying firmly on Paramount+.
The Bottom Line
- Will Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 come to Netflix? Not anytime soon.
- Where can you stream it? Exclusively on Paramount+.
- What about the original series? Seasons 1–8 left Netflix in June 2025.
- Future chances? Uncertain, but for now, Paramount is keeping its Dexter universe in-house.
So if you’re itching for more of America’s favorite antihero, Paramount+ remains the only destination for Dexter’s bloody return.
