This is the first glimpse of the beloved actor in character as Batista on the set of the sequel.
Production on Dexter: Resurrection officially reaches its 18th week today in New York City, marking a major milestone as the series edges closer to wrapping. With each passing week, anticipation continues to grow—and for good reason.
In recent weeks, fans have been treated to a steady stream of behind-the-scenes photos, offering exciting glimpses of both returning favorites and new faces. These shots—captured across various NYC locations—have only intensified the buzz surrounding this next chapter in the Dexter universe.
One of the most exciting returns is David Zayas as Angel Batista. A beloved character from the original series, Batista’s return is more than just a cameo. This time around, Zayas is confirmed as a series regular, suggesting we’ll see much more of him—and possibly even the long-anticipated reunion (or showdown) with Dexter Morgan himself.
While early promotional material gave fans a first look at Zayas back in costume, today’s update brings something even more exciting: new on-set photos of Zayas filming a full scene. Captured on May 14, the images show Batista walking near a New York City subway station on a rainy day, umbrella in one hand and phone in the other. He looks focused and intense—fully immersed in what appears to be a dramatic moment. And yes, the signature fedora is back—this time in a sleek black version, adding to the gritty NYC vibe.
Adding a heartfelt detail to the day’s shoot, David Zayas Jr., the actor’s real-life son, was also spotted on set. Wearing the same signature fedora, he appears to once again be serving as his father’s stunt double—just as he did during the original Dexter series. It’s a subtle but touching nod to the show’s legacy and the bond behind the scenes.
Also photographed during filming was Monica Raymund, who is directing the episode. With her own history in the Dexter universe, her presence adds an extra layer of continuity and depth. Based on the production schedule, these scenes are likely part of Episode 8 or 9, indicating that filming is now in its final stretch.
With every new update, the world of Dexter: Resurrection continues to take shape—and the return of Angel Batista only makes it more exciting!
