Dexter: Resurrection – 5 'New Blood' Characters Most Likely to Return for the Sequel

The upcoming sequel to Dexter: New Blood may bring back several familiar characters.

Production is in full swing for the Dexter prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, set in 1991 Miami. Meanwhile, Showtime/Paramount and producers are also developing a second Dexter project, the highly anticipated Dexter: Resurrection.

For those unfamiliar, during the Dexter panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 26th, showrunner Clyde Phillips announced that Michael C. Hall would reprise his iconic role as Dexter Morgan. Filming is slated to begin in January 2025. Get every information so far on this exciting new project here!

So far, Hall is the only confirmed returning actor, leaving the big question: which characters from the original series and the 2021 revival Dexter: New Blood will return in Dexter: Resurrection? Meetings with returning actors may already be underway, and casting announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

A few weeks ago, we shared an article on Dexter Daily discussing which characters from Miami Metro in the original series might return for Dexter: Resurrection. Today, we’ll shift focus to the Dexter: New Blood characters who are likely to make an appearance in this new chapter.

Let’s dive in!

1. Angela Bishop

Angela Bishop, played by Julia Jones, is highly likely to return in Dexter: Resurrection. In Dexter: New Blood, Angela was Jim Lindsay's (Dexter's) girlfriend and the one who uncovered his identity as the Bay Harbor Butcher—in one of the most shocking and controversial twists of the series. In the final episode, "Sins of the Father," Angela helps Harrison flee Iron Lake after he "kills" his father in the woods. Since Dexter: Resurrection will reportedly pick up where New Blood left off, according to Michael C. Hall, it’s safe to assume Angela will still be at the crime scene, awaiting the arrival of the FBI and Angel Batista. Like Batista, her return seems highly probable.

2. Harrison Morgan

It’s impossible to discuss the potential returning characters without mentioning Harrison Morgan, portrayed by Jack Alcott, the most controversial character in the 2021 Dexter revival. Harrison's relationship with Dexter had its highs and lows, ultimately culminating in tragedy when, after reaching a point of no return, Harrison shoots Dexter and flees Iron Lake. While we don't know where Harrison is headed after New Blood, his return in Dexter: Resurrection feels like a safe bet.

3. Audrey Bishop

Audrey Bishop (played by Johnny Sequoyah), Angela's outspoken daughter, is another character who could reappear in Dexter: Resurrection. While it’s unlikely she will have a major impact on the plot of the sequel, her connections to both Angela and Harrison—who was her boyfriend—might be enough to justify her return.

4. Teddy Reed

Though not a main character in Dexter: New Blood, Teddy Reed, played by David Magidoff, might return in Dexter: Resurrection. As a member of the Iron Lake Police Department, where Dexter accidentally killed Logan, Teddy’s involvement in the investigation of the police station events could easily lead to his return.

5. Sgt. Logan

There’s a 50-50 chance Sgt. Logan (played by Alano Miller) could appear in Dexter: Resurrection, at least in a brief capacity. After all, he was killed by Dexter while trying to escape from his prison cell in Iron Lake. The producers might use a stunt double for his body, similar to how they handled Travis Marshall’s body in the Season 7 premiere of Dexter.

There’s also a chance that Logan could still be alive in Dexter: Resurrection if the writers choose to undo the events of the last five minutes of the Dexter: New Blood finale. In this scenario, Dexter would wake up in his prison cell, revealing that everything that happened was just a terrible nightmare. While it’s unlikely, it remains a minor possibility.

Stay tuned for official updates on the cast of Dexter: Resurrection, coming soon!
