Via dailynews.com, interview with new special guest Yvonne Strahovski:
So far this season the good-guy serial killer is going through a crisis of conscience after his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) discovered his true identity.
Very little has been revealed about Strahovski's character or the direction the show is headed.
"It's a different kind of action," was all she could say about comparing the role of Hannah to Sarah in "Chuck," where she would usually dispatch bad guys with martial-arts kicks.
Based on a clip of tonight's show, it appears that Dex is somewhat smitten with Hannah. "There may or may not be an attraction there between them," says Strahovski, laughing at how secretive she has to be.
"There's a lot of juicy secrets that she has in her past that will come to life quite quickly," the actress reveals. "The audience will be satisfied very quickly where my character comes from and where she fits in the world of `Dexter.' And they will be doing something on the show this season that's never been done before." Read the reast of the article, after the jump...
Strahovski did admit to knowing whether her character would survive the season, but was mum on that, too.
Offered the role of Hannah without auditioning, the actress says she was flattered when the producers called her up. Though she had watched some of the show over the years, she then watched all six seasons in three weeks to catch up.
She adds that she quickly overcame feeling like the new kid on the block when she arrived on the set of "Dexter."
"Everybody was so welcoming," the actress says. "I've spent the majority of my time with Michael, who is extremely generous, very much an actor's actor and so easy to work with. He's amazing to watch and observe as well."
With "Chuck" on the cancellation bubble for the last few years, it was difficult for Strahovski to take many parts between seasons.
"Thankfully things have sort of fallen in place so far," she says about her post-"Chuck" career.
Earlier this year, she shot a movie in Australia called "I, Frankenstein" with Bill Nighy and Aaron Eckhart, which she calls more of a thriller than horror film. It's planned for release next year.
On Christmas Day, you can see her in "The Guilt Trip" directed by Anne Fletcher ("The Proposal"), starring Barbra Streisand as Seth Rogen's overbearing mom. Strahovski plays the high school girlfriend of Rogen's character.
"It was great watching Barbra and Seth together. They are just such pros," she says.
Strahovski, who never used her return ticket to Australia after she flew here to audition for "Chuck," hopes "Dexter" will offer her a chance to delve into characters that she hasn't played before. And for now, Los Angeles is her home.
"I enjoy living in L.A.," she says. "This is where the work is -- or at least generated from because you fly off and do movies. It's sort of a great way to see the world."
Born in a suburb of Sydney, Strahovski is the daughter of parents who emigrated from Warsaw, Poland. The original spelling of her last name was Strzechowski, but she changed it when she got the role on "Chuck" "so the spelling would be a little bit easier. Otherwise it makes no sense to someone who doesn't speak Polish."
When it's mentioned that she could have become Yvonne Jones, she says, "I wanted to honor my heritage and where I came from and keep the name. It was a tough decision to even change the spelling of it phonetically. I wanted to keep it as close to the original as it can be."
Considering that she has been in Hollywood for more than five years, the actress has kept a remarkably low profile in a town that thrives on gossip.
"I try to keep my private life private and the acting stuff separate," she says with conviction.
