Dexter - 6.04 "A Horse of A Different Color" - [Open Thread]

Official Synopsis: Much to his own surprise, an emergency with Harrison and a new tableau from Gellar and Travis has Dexter leaning on Brother Sam and an unexpected winged messenger for support as he questions the idea of faith; with proof of a religiously motivated killer, Homicide hunts for a zealot, with Debra giving her first official press conference.

  1. Well... it was pretty awesome! I really loved the part between Dex and Mos talking at the hospital. He's a good guy.

I don't really think Professor Gellar exists! I think he is Travis' DARK PASSENGER!

    What do you think guys?

  3. We saw a very soft side of Dex last night. Harrison is definitely the most important part of his life. Could he give it all up for him?

  4. I hope I don't get nightmares from watching that execution scene in the greenhouse...

  5. I didn't like it. Did anyone think for a second that Harrison wasn't going to be fine? Without a feeling like there were some stakes it just felt like an acting exercise for MCH.

The Colin Hanks character is kind of difficult to appreciate. One the one hand he's so weak-willed that he doesn't seem scary at all and yet he's capable of doing violence so he's not that sympathetic. I'm getting the impression that we are being set up for him turning against Geller or standing up to him, but I don't have a lot invested in his turmoil yet.

  7. Well to me this episode was OK. A filler as they might say...

The execution scene was cool and the Brother Sam and Dexter scene in the hospital was nice but thats about it. As mentioned above the character of Travis is like a little puppy being led around by its master but occasionally will do something he wants. In short I dont really like him. The hype had us thinking it was something more.

Maybe its just me but do I see a Mike Anderson Debra Morgan thing going on here. Its starting out like Lundy and Morgan and might head the same path.

Another thing I cant put my finger on is whether the boys in charge really did like Debras little press conference as Matthews said or is he just telling her that to throw it in LaGuertas face.

Also a Quinn and Angel bromance is heading our way. Seems interesting as we really havent had anything like that on the show. The closest was Masuka and Angel but not quite there. This should be interesting to watch.

Mostly Im looking forward to see how Dexter starts stalking Travis. That is going to be fun.

  8. I really enjoyed this episode! The kills are kind of terrifying this year, but I really like where this season is going. As for the new characters, I actually like Mike Anderson (who maybe will be a detective that Dexter gets along with), and I like Brother Sam. Travis and Professor Gellar are still really mysterious, so I can't really say my position; they're interesting nevertheless.

  9. Awesome! It is the best so far (though E1 was Awesome too). The blend of humor and drama was great in this episode. The kills have kicked in the intensity level, also with Dex now finding out who is Doomsday 2, Cant wait for next Sunday.

@Adam J: "filler"? IDK If there were any fillers so far this season, if so, maybe the last episode? And I get what you mean with the character of Travis but remember he is an acolyte. When someone is in a cult, they pretty much become a "little puppy" following every command and desire of the cult leader. But I am with the Anonymous (first written comment), Prof Gellar may only exist in Travis mind! That may explain why Travis still has some freedom to do things. Either way, they are both creepy people.

  10. @neatmonster I definitely agree with you about your comments to @Adam J.

Moving on, I think Gellar is to Travis what Harry is to Dexter. We know that Gellar lived at some point, but I also think that he's in Travis' imagination. I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but when Travis and Gellar were at the restaurant, only Travis had a place setting...

  11. Filler? Really? I am so beyond sick of the "whiners" that do absolutely nothing but complain. I thought this episode was one of the best in the entire series. I mean that Angel kill was just incredible. And I really dont get the ones still saying that Gellar isnt real. Did you guys miss the part where Deb and the other cops were looking at Gellars website? He is most definitely real. The season is shaping up the be the best yet. To all the whiners. If you dont like it THEN STOP WATCHING IT AND DEFINITELY STOP COMING HERE TO DO NOTHING BUT PISS AND MOAN. WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS.
