Michael C. Hall Talks About 'The Trouble With Bliss'

Via: twichfilm.com: Michael C. Hall, already a well known face after playing David Fisher, the gay funeral director on the legendary HBO cable program Six Feet Under, and now currently hovering around bona fide cultural icon status due to his turn as Dexter Morgan, the serial killer who kills other serial killers, on Showtime's hit series Dexter, switches gears in his new film, The Trouble With Bliss, from newcomer director Mike Knowles.
Mr. Hall was kind enough to take time out of an early morning rehearsal schedule, on a Saturday no less, to talk to Twitch about the frumpy, troubled character he plays in this new ode to being middle aged, and directionless, in the Big Apple. Read the whole interview after the jump below...

Jennifer Carpenter: "Dexter Will End After 8 Seasons"

Via: digitalspy.co.uk: Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter has revealed that she only plans to film eight seasons.

The serial killer drama has been picked up for a seventh and eighth run by Showtime, with network president David Nevins suggesting that the show could continue beyond that point. However, Carpenter - who plays Debra Morgan - told Digital Spy: "I think I'm gonna do eight."

"You never know, but my hope is that people are like, 'God, I wish Dexter was still on' or 'God, I wish it had gone on for one more year'." The actress added that Dexter - which stars Michael C Hall as the eponymous killer - has been a "game-changing" series.

"I just don't think that we want to overstay our welcome," she explained.

Hall previously hinted that his character could meet a dark fate in the Dexter series finale.

"I think [in the new episodes] I'll be challenged to incorporate some very new and powerful dynamics into Dexter's world," said the actor. "To be honest, it's difficult for me to foresee an entirely happy ending for the character."

The sixth season of Dexter airs in the UK on Fridays at 10pm on FX. The series returns to Showtime in the US on Sunday, September 30 at 9/8c.

Happy Birthday, Julia Stiles!

Michael C. Hall: "I Can't See A Happy Ending For Dexter"

Via whatsontv.co.uk: As series six of Dexter begins on FX HD on Friday, Michael C Hall discusses musicals, guest stars and playing God...

Does Dexter’s brush with religion in the new series bring out his spiritual side?
"If there’s a God in Dexter’s world, I suppose it’s arguably Harry or the code or Dexter himself, taking God’s work into his own hands in as much as he’s ending people’s lives. A broader sense of what God might be isn’t something he has faced until now."

The Doomsday Killers and Brother Sam represent a pretty broad spectrum of faith, don’t they?
"There’s a very negative manifestation of religious states, with these killers who are basing their heinous acts on scripture, and then we see Dexter enter into as authentic a friendship as he’s ever had with Brother Sam, who has been rehabilitated through the redemptive power of faith. So you see the shadow and the light side."

Have you been surprised by what’s happened in Dexter’s life over the course of five series?
"When we were shooting the first series, I didn’t foresee him having sex, let alone getting married or having a child or having some sort of relationship in which he invited other people into the kill room. I didn’t imagine Rita’s death or those kinds of ramifications." Hit the jump below to read the full interview...

Michael C. Hall: "If I Were Deb's Therapist, I'd Say, "Don't Go There" I'd Encourage Her to Set Some Limits"

Via: vulture.com: Michael C. Hall is in New York this month shooting Kill Your Darlings, the story of three Beat writers who got drawn into a murder trial when their mutual friend Lucien Carr stabbed David Kammerer. Hall, best known for playing a serial killer on Dexter, will be the one getting stabbed this time around; his co-stars include Daniel Radcliffe as Allen Ginsberg, Ben Foster as William Burroughs, and Jack Huston as Jack Kerouac. But first up is this week's The Trouble With Bliss, an adaptation of Douglas Light's novel East Fifth Bliss. Michael C. Hall Talks Going From Serial Killer To The Unspectacular

Via: cinemablend.com: Nowadays we all know him as our friendly neighborhood serial killer, Dexter, but even Michael C. Hall himself admits “there’s more to acting than playing a serial killer.”

In the upcoming release The Trouble with Bliss, Hall stars as Morris Bliss, a guy in his mid-30s who calls his widowed father’s (Peter Fonda) apartment his own and actually bunks down in what looks to be his childhood room. Oddly enough, rather than date someone his own age, Morris falls for an 18-year-old student (Brie Larson) who just so happens to be the daughter of an old high school pal (Brad William Henke).

Morris is a pretty interesting specimen. He’s got hopes to make big moves, but seemingly lacks the motivation to do, well, much of anything – quite the opposite of Dexter. In honor of The Trouble with Bliss’ March 23rd limited release, Hall took the time to discuss his Dexter detox, his experience playing a more reactive character, working with writer-director Michael Knowles and much more. Check it all out in the interview, after the jump below...

Michael C. Hall On A More "Paranoid" and "Manipulative" Dexter In Season 7

New interview with Michael C. Hall, on cinemablend.com: With Dexter entering its seventh season on Sunday, September 30th at 9pm EST, we’re all left wondering, can our favorite serial killer really pull it off again? The show’s core idea, a guy addicted to killing but only murdering bad guys, is certainly on the high concept side and when you’ve got a high concept, it’s far more susceptible to running dry.

However, if you caught the grand finale of Season 6, you know that a whole new door has been opened, a door that’ll likely welcome more conflict, new relationships and, of course, a new adversary for Dexter. While promoting his upcoming feature release, The Trouble with Bliss, Dexter himself, Michael C. Hall dedicated some time to discussing his perspective on the character, touching on what he’s looking forward to exploring in the new season.
“I think it’s good that the writers have found a new way to really turn up the heat on the character and force him into situations that he’s going to have to use his wits to fight his way out of.” Hall added, “And the newest development is sort of unprecedented in its complexity; it’s a real mess.” Hit the jump below to read more...

Olmos first hit the big time back in the 80s in the pastel-colored 80s police drama “Miami Vice” and the classic sci-fi film “Blade Runner.” More recently he starred in the fan favorite sci-fi series “Battlestar Galactica.”

Olmos is a Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning, Oscar and Tony nominated actor and activist. ECCC runs March 30-April 1st, 2012 at the Washington State Convention Center. Olmos will be appearing Friday only.

But Olmos has also given memorable performances in non sci-fi films.
