Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are filing for divorce

After nearly two years of marriage, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, 39, and Jennifer Carpenter, 31, are divorcing. An exclusive joint statement to EW from their representatives read: “Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.” Both reps add that the split was amicable. The couple — who met on the set of the Showtime drama, in which she plays his foster sister — married on December 31, 2008. Hall completed treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier this year.
That was very sudden. Do you think that it will effect the show?

  1. Two years for a Hollywood couple is like 10 years for a 'normal' couple, so they had a good run. Too, it could have been one of those "find comfort in a friend's arms during a scary time in your life" marriages; the scary part is over and they are choosing to call the marriage what it was.

It should not affect the show. There was no veiled sexual tension between their characters while they were married, so there will be no awkward tension with the next season. Michael C. Hall is the executive producer of 'Dexter,' and he wouldn't let their personal life screw with the show.

  4. They at least had the good sense to wait until after the show ended. I'm surprised some digging Hollywood reporter didn't leak this story during the season. Personally, I think it's very sad. Shows you how great an actor MCH is--he didn't blink an eye when asked about his marriage on Jimmy Fallon's show. I don't expect it will affect the show, they have time to heal and looks like they've been separated for awhile anyway.

  6. I am sad for this couple. They have gone through a lot during their first 2 years of marriage. I hope they can remain friends and continue to work professionally together. The show wouldn't be the same without the mouthy flighty sister - Deb.

  9. NO! nothing will stop dexter. I am happy that they are smart enough to know when it's over. They seem to like eachother as people, and they work very well together.

    SO...NO!
