Peter Dinklage Unsure If His Dexter: Resurrection Character Leon Prater Is a Villain

"If you're going to judge the characters, you're the one watching it," Dinklage said.

After months of speculation, Game of Thrones alum Peter Dinklage officially joined the Dexter universe this past February—much to the delight of longtime fans. The Emmy-winning actor’s addition to Dexter: Resurrection has sparked widespread excitement, especially as his enigmatic character is set to debut in the highly anticipated Episode 4, premiering this Friday exclusively on Paramount+ Premium.

Titled “Call Me Red,” the episode not only introduces Dinklage as Leon Prater, but also brings in four major guest stars, adding even more depth and intrigue to the season. According to early reviews of the first four episodes, this installment is already being hailed as the strongest yet.

Ahead of his on-screen debut, Dinklage made a guest appearance on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, where he briefly discussed his involvement in Dexter: Resurrection. When asked if his character is the season’s big villain—a label many media outlets have quickly assigned—Dinklage hesitated, responding with a cryptic “Eh…” He suggested that things may not be as straightforward as they seem.

“You're watching Dexter,” he joked. “I mean, you're a sick mofo if you're... going in, if you're going to judge the characters—you're the one watching it.”

His comment drew laughter, but also underscored the morally complex world of Dexter, where even the most dangerous figures often exist in shades of gray.

While the full scope of Leon Prater’s character remains under wraps, what has been confirmed so far paints a chilling picture. Prater is a very wealthy man obsessed with serial killers, and he's been known to host them for dinner, suggesting a twisted fascination that blurs the line between admiration and complicity.

Despite Dinklage’s playful deflection, fans and critics alike continue to speculate that Leon Prater may indeed be the season’s central antagonist, or at least a major force of conflict for Dexter Morgan.

To catch Dinklage's take on joining the Dexter franchise and his thoughts on playing such a morally ambiguous character, watch the interview clip below. The Dexter: Resurrection-related segment begins at 7:42.

Stay tuned this Friday for Episode 4: “Call Me Red,” and witness Peter Dinklage’s chilling debut in the Dexter world.
