Dexter: Resurrection Sets Official France Premiere Date on CANAL+

Dexter Morgan will return to France once more, albeit with a considerable delay.

While Dexter: Resurrection premiered in many countries around the world on July 11—or over the following weekend—some regions are still waiting for the highly anticipated return of America’s most notorious forensic blood spatter analyst. Among those still waiting is France, where the series has yet to officially air.

Despite Paramount+ having a strong presence in France, the broadcasting rights to all things Dexter remain with another major player: CANAL+.

After weeks of speculation, CANAL+ has finally confirmed the official French release date for Dexter: Resurrection. The series will premiere Thursday, August 21, much to the relief of eager fans. In a short announcement shared across their social media channels, CANAL+ teased the release with the tagline: "The date you've all been waiting for."

This delay, unfortunately, isn’t new for French fans of the franchise. CANAL+ has a history of trailing behind global releases, including with the original Dexter series back in the early 2010s, and more recently with Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Original Sin, which premiered nearly two months after its U.S. launch.

Interestingly, back on February 5, CANAL+ hosted a special preview event in Paris for Dexter: Original Sin. One of the night’s biggest surprises was the appearance of Christina Milian, who portrays Maria LaGuerta in the prequel. Milian, who resides in Paris, attended the screening and delighted fans with her presence.

While Dexter: Resurrection is launching in France slightly sooner than its predecessors, the delay has already prompted many impatient fans to take matters into their own hands—subscribing to Paramount+ in neighboring European countries and accessing the series via VPN.

The new chapter, set in the gritty streets of New York City, has clearly ignited worldwide interest—and French fans are more than ready to dive into the blood-soaked drama.
