The actor who plays Harry got emotional several times watching this classic Dexter episode.
It’s Thursday, and you know what that means—a brand-new episode of Dexter’s Kill Room is here to dissect! The popular YouTube series, created to get fans hyped for the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection, returns this week with an extra-special guest: the legendary James Remar, better known to fans as Harry Morgan.
Joining hosts Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Remar sits down to revisit one of the most pivotal episodes from the original Dexter series—Season 1, Episode 3, titled “Popping Cherry.” It’s not just any episode—it’s one of Remar’s personal favorites, and watching it again stirred up powerful emotions for the veteran actor.
As they rewatch and break down the episode together, Remar opens up about the deep emotional impact of “Popping Cherry,” which features significant flashbacks, including Harry’s health scare and the chilling Nurse Mary kill. Longtime fans will instantly recognize the importance of these scenes—especially since they were recently revisited in the pilot of Dexter: Original Sin.
One scene in particular brought Remar to the brink of tears. “Everybody is so genuine in it—they really feel like real people,” he said, visibly moved. “We did this about 20+ years ago. This is not your average cop show.”
Despite a prolific career spanning back to the 1970s—with roles in dozens of films and TV series—it’s clear that Dexter still holds a uniquely meaningful place in James Remar’s heart.
While he couldn’t reveal much about Dexter: Resurrection, Remar teased that fans “will love it as much as the original series.” And if that’s not enough to make your Dark Passenger stir, we don’t know what is.
