The actor will reprise his Dexter: New Blood role in the upcoming sequel.
Back in late March, Dexter fans got an exciting surprise: David Magidoff was officially confirmed to reprise his role in the upcoming Dexter sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection. Magidoff joins a select group of returning cast members from the Dexter-verse, bringing fan-favorite characters back to life—literally and figuratively.
Magidoff originally appeared in Dexter: New Blood as Teddy Reed, a rookie officer with the Iron Lake Police Department. Over the course of the ten-episode limited series, Reed was portrayed as eager, green, and earnest—working under Angela Bishop and Sergeant Logan. Though his role wasn’t among the most prominent, Teddy’s actions in the dramatic finale proved pivotal. After Angela discovers Logan's death, she calls Teddy to alert the authorities—an event that becomes a major turning point in the story.
And that moment may be the very reason why we’ll be seeing Teddy Reed again.
Whether his return will be a fleeting appearance or something more substantial remains to be seen. However, earlier this week, David Magidoff shed a bit more light during a segment on NBC 5 Chicago. When asked about Dexter: Resurrection, Magidoff shared his excitement and the unexpected nature of his return.
“What’s really great is when the star of the show decides he wants to come back. And he’s like, ‘What if I didn’t die?’” he said with a smile, referring to Michael C. Hall’s return as Dexter Morgan.
“And that means everyone else gets a job again. So it was amazing to get the phone call.”
Reflecting on his own experience, Magidoff added:
“It’s so special just to get a phone call saying, ‘Hey, you’ll be back.’ Especially because I thought we were done. We lived in the Boston area for six months filming New Blood, and now it’s Dexter: New York. I guess Teddy Reed lives again too.”
Teddy Reed’s return has certainly raised eyebrows—especially since Julia Jones, who played lead character Angela Bishop and had a central role in New Blood, isn’t currently listed among the returning cast. That decision remains a mystery, sparking speculation among fans.
Fortunately, the answers may be just around the corner. Dexter: Resurrection premieres on July 11, and with it comes a new chapter full of intrigue, familiar faces, and long-awaited revelations.
