Go behind the scenes of Episode 8 of Dexter: Original Sin Season 1!
The first season of Dexter: Original Sin is quickly approaching its end, with only two episodes left. As the tension escalates, Episode 8, titled "Business and Pleasure," delivered plenty of action, callbacks to the original series, and thrilling moments set in both 1970s flashbacks and the present-day timeline of 1991.
As part of Showtime’s Monday morning tradition, the network released a new behind-the-scenes featurette, giving fans a closer look at the explosive cartel house scene, featuring Miami Metro PD, SWAT, and a dangerous drug cartel. Here are some key highlights from the cast and crew:
Clyde Phillips on Dexter’s Suspicion of Aaron Spencer
Showrunner Clyde Phillips sheds light on Dexter’s growing distrust of Captain Aaron Spencer, a respected figure in Miami Metro:
"Dexter is in a subordinate place to this person—something we never saw in the original series. Spencer has known Dexter his whole life, yet there’s something just a little off about him, and only Dexter picks up on it."
While everyone else sees Spencer as an exemplary homicide cop, Dexter notices inconsistencies in his behavior. Following his instincts, he tracks Spencer—and makes a shocking discovery.
Reno Wilson Breaks Down the High-Stakes Cartel Scene
Actor Reno Wilson, who plays Bobby Watt, discussed the intensity of the cartel shootout:
"We have a top-notch team—stunt coordinators, a SWAT coordinator, a firearms specialist, and a police consultant to ensure authenticity. We also had VFX, special effects makeup, and squib work. It’s a massive production."
Wilson also teased an intense moment for his character, saying:
"All the cops I’ve played before have never been in something like this. I’ve been in a couple of shootouts, but nothing at this level. And yours truly? I take one in the neck—blood splatters on the wall."
Will Bobby Watt Survive?
Wilson hinted at his character’s fate:
"Batista heroically pulls me aside and tries to stop the bleeding. The question is—do I live or do I die? I know the answer, but my family doesn’t even know. If you want to find out, you’ll have to watch the next episode!"
