“Postmortem” Featurette for Episode 6 Released

For the fifth consecutive Monday, Showtime treated fans to a behind-the-scenes Postmortem featurette. This installment dives into Episode 6, highlighting fun on-set moments, insightful cast interviews, and commentary from the creative team, including Patrick Gibson, Molly Brown, showrunner Clyde Phillips, and writer/executive producer Scott Reynolds.

Molly Brown: Double Dates and Behind-the-Scenes Insights

Reflecting on one of the episode’s funniest moments, Molly Brown shared:

"Dexter orders so much food. One of his lines is about wanting a portion of wings—which is such a British thing to say! Raquel (Justice) and I were cracking up. He’s got so many lines to memorize, and it’s just these little quirks that make it so funny."

Brown also discussed the dynamic between Deb and Dexter during the double date:

"We shot the scene at this amazing bar in Venice. It was such a blast working with Paddy (Patrick Gibson), Raquel, and Isaac. Deb wants this double date to happen because she craves a closer connection with Dexter. She doesn’t have a typical sibling relationship with him, and this moment shows how much she wants to share her world with him."

Patrick Gibson on Dexter’s Awkward Missteps

Patrick Gibson, who plays Dexter, revealed the character’s challenges during the double date:

"Deb is keen for Dexter to date her best friend, Sofia, but Dexter is completely out of his element. He makes so many awkward mistakes. It’s funny to see him learning dating moves—not from other serial killers but from Gio and Levi Reed. Watching him try to emulate them with mixed success is both hilarious and endearing."

Scott Reynolds on the Prequel’s Iconic Kill Rooms

Writer Scott Reynolds discussed the signature kill rooms, praising the creative team’s approach:
"Michael Lehman and Monica Raymond have a way of making these kill room scenes feel... fun. Is that okay to say? There’s a unique energy, whether you’re the victim or the killer."

Patrick Gibson added his perspective:

"There’s something sacred about filming kill room scenes. The plastic everywhere creates this surreal, dreamlike atmosphere. For Dexter, it’s a release—shedding the tension of trying to appear normal. Those moments are oddly invigorating and deeply meaningful to his character."
