"She's standing her ground, and she's not playing," Milian said about her role.

Four days to go! The countdown is on for the highly anticipated release of the Dexter prequel's pilot episode, and excitement is at an all-time high for this thrilling new installment!

Meanwhile, Showtime's latest episode of Autopsy Report offers an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the actors and characters of Dexter: Original Sin. In today's featurette, actress and singer Christina Milian gives us insight into her portrayal of a young Maria LaGuerta as she embarks on her career at Miami Metro in 1991.

Welcome Back to the 1990s

"We get to relive the nineties. The music, the fashion," Milian shares enthusiastically. "I don't know if they got to have that kind of fun when they did the original so, it's fun to now be 24, 25 now and the year 2024-2025. I wish I was 24, 25! [Laughs]"

Maria LaGuerta in Her 30s

How does a young Maria LaGuerta navigate her role as a detective? Milian explains:

"It’s LaGuerta, my girl." She adds, "At this point, she’s a detective—not a captain yet. She's here to solve cases that are not, you know, especially highlighted. She knows where there's a void. She feels like the detectives of the Miami Metro Homicide team are not filling that void for the people."

LaGuerta: Origins

Milian dives into the essence of the character:

"What is the original story? What is the origin of a character like mine and how did she get to become captain? Hello, in a male driven world, especially as a detective, she has purpose. I feel like she has something to prove. She's not making fans, but she's standing her ground, and she's not playing."

This glimpse into LaGuerta’s journey promises to add depth to an already beloved Dexter universe. The prequel is set to reveal the grit and determination that defined her rise through the ranks, one case at a time.
