Dexter Morgan Is All Smiles In Showtime's Latest Season 9 Teaser - Breakdown!

Everyone's favorite fictional serial killer is back, and still in the woods!

On Thursday April 29, Showtime released the first look at Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan in the new season. Although the footage of him starring at the camera were 'leaked' in a couple of photos last February, the teaser as a whole is chilling, and makes us eager for more.

Yesterday's teaser picks up right where the first one called 'Nature Is Calling' left off. Continue reading for our analysis and a re-watch in FHD!

Here's the teaser in 21:9 aspect, and Full HD:

Last week's teaser was located in the middle of a snowy forest, and it was showing an axe stuck into a snowy stump against a snowy backdrop with a fire burning.

The teaser opens on the same small campfire burning in the snowy woods, and pans back to reveal a melancholic Dex, looking outside the window of a log cabin, which will probably be his house in the new season.

In the bottom right corner of the window we also see his feature victim (which in fact is no one in particular) on the killer table, wrapped in plastic, and trying to escape. Both Dexter's reflection and the victim behind him, were added later in the promo, with CGI technology.

Then he turns to look directly at the camera, smiling with confidence and determination. It’s a near mirror to the shot from Dexter’s 2013 series finale.

The teaser cheekily scored to Nina Simone's 1964 song ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,’ seems to poke fun at Dexter Morgan's last known addresses in the middle of nowhere. Listen to the song below.

He's just a soul whose intentions are good,
Oh Lord, please don't let him be misunderstood!
