Showtime Redoing Season 8, with the Ninth and Final Season Due Fall 2016

UPDATE 4/2: Happy April Fools' Day!

"In light of the drastic response to season eight, we have decided that Dexter has not come to the conclusion it deserved. Taking fan response to heart, season nine of the series will take place shortly after season seven. The ninth and final season will air in fall 2016."

Clyde Philips, former show-runner of seasons 1-4 who is again at the helm of season nine, revealed season eight will be a hallucination in a shocking yet-to-be-announced twist. Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter will return to star, with a guest star promised to follow John Lithgow's award-winning adversary role.
