Jennifer Carpenter Teams Up With Sara Colleton to Executive Produce 'Death Class' For NBC

via THR: NBC is staging a Dexter reunion!

Jennifer Carpenter is teaming with Sara Colleton to adapt former Los Angeles Times writer Erika Hayasaki's book Death Class: A True Story About Life for NBC.

Carpenter, optioned the book, with producer George Stelzner, in April. NBC and Universal Television have boarded the drama, with Colleton also signing on to the project. A search is underway for a writer.

Death Class centers on nurse Norma Bowe, who, when she decides to teach a class on death at a college in New Jersey, never expected it to be popular. But year after year students crowd into her classroom and the reason is clear: Norma's "death class" is really about how to make the most of what poet Mary Oliver famously called our "one wild and precious life."

Carpenter is not attached to star but will exec produce alongside Colleton, who served in the same capacity on the Michael C. Hall serial killer drama. Carpenter most recently signed on to star in USA Network's drama pilot Stanistan.

Although Hall was most recently seen on stage in the Will Eno play The Realistic Joneses, he first made a name for himself in Broadway musicals, taking on the Emcee in Cabaret in 1999 and portraying Billy Flynn in Chicago in 2002. British Teenager 'Obsessed With Dexter' According to the Court Jailed For Dismembering His Girlfriend

Here's a pretty awful story that was revealed earlier today, via Buzzfeed: "Steven Miles 17, killed Elizabeth Thomas at his family’s home in Oxted, Surrey, in January. He pleaded guilty at Guildford Crown Court on September 9th.

The Press Association reported that Miles, who was 16 at the time, stabbed Thomas in her head and back before cutting off her legs and arm, wrapping the body parts in clingfilm, and placing them in bin bags.

The teenager, who had been diagnosed with an autistic syndrome, reportedly had an alter ego called Ed. When his sister returned home shortly after Thomas’s murder, Miles told her: “Ed made me do something bad.”

PA said the boy had used tools and saws from his father’s tree surgery business to cut up Thomas’ body.

Guildford crown court heard how the teen was a fan of horror films and Dexter, the TV series about a fictional forensics expert who is a secret serial killer.

Lewis Power of the defence said: “This was a truly gruesome killing ripped from the pages of a hit TV script. The evidence points to the defendant trying to emulate the actions of the character Dexter, who he idolised.

“The case is a sad testament to the perils of how young people can become entrenched in modern TV blockbusters involving violence which shockingly led to a copycat killing in real life.”

Judge Critchlow told Miles in court: “You decided, at the age of 16, you had to kill somebody. You chose Elizabeth Thomas, who tragically befriended you and who had stood up for you when people described you as different. It’s chilling to read that you described her on occasion as your project.”

Psychiatrists declared that Miles is not schizophrenic, and therefore the defence of diminished responsibility could not be claimed."

Our opinion: Is a television program like Dexter to blame? Of course not. If he was a "copycat", or "truly obsessed" with Dexter's character, he wouldn't even commit this awful crime. Fans of the show understand why.

Mini Dexter Reunion: Yvonne Strahovski Joins the Cast of ABC's 'Astronaut Wives Club'

The Astronaut Wives Club just got a lot hotter thanks to the addition of Chuck and Dexter alum Yvonne Strahovski.

The actress will join the upcoming ABC series’ cast, HitFix.com reports, giving her the chance to once more work with Chuck co-creator (and Astronaut co-executive producer) Josh Schwartz.

The new drama follows a group of women who support their star-bound husbands during the 1960s space race. The action follows Lily Koppel’s 2013 bestseller, which chronicles the lives of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo mission crews’ spouses.

Strahovski’s Rene Carpenter is the wife of Mercury astronaut Scott Carpenter, a modern woman whose passion for issues like civil rights will cause conflict with some of the other wives.

In this show we're going to have a mini Dexter reunion as Desmond Harrington has already joined the ABC pilot.

Christian Camargo aka the Ice Truck Killer Joins Season 3 of 'Elementary'

Christian Camargo, best known for his role as Brian “Ice Truck Killer” Moser is set to guest star on Elementary as a past (and possibly future) love of Lucy Liu’s sleuth.

Camargo’s character, Chris, is Joan’s former medical colleague as well as her ex-boyfriend. He reaches out to her for help with a problem — but during the course of their association, old feelings get stirred up. (Rumor has it the two were thisclose to getting married back in the day.)
