The Hollywood Sign Wrapped in Plastic? Dexter Takes Over Iconic Landmarks Worldwide!

Go home Dexter, you're drunk!

Promotion for Dexter has reached a whole new level this year! Earlier today, Showtime's official Dexter accounts and the stars of Dexter: Original Sin shared a series of reels showcasing iconic landmarks around the world being taken over by none other than... Dexter Morgan!

If that sounds too wild to believe, see for yourself below. The Hollywood Sign—yes, the legendary symbol of Tinseltown—was wrapped entirely in plastic!

This iconic landmark, which spans 350 feet (107 meters) with each letter towering at 45 feet (13.7 meters), was completely encased in plastic wrap, as shown in the video below. And believe it or not, the Hollywood Sign wasn’t the only landmark to get this chilling Dexter treatment!

As you can see in another video below, Washington Square Park was also transformed in the same chilling fashion. Another iconic landmark, another layer of plastic—it seems no place is safe from Dexter Morgan’s eerie touch!

Down under, on another continent, the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia was also seemingly wrapped in plastic.

The same treatment extended to the Carioca Aqueduct in Brazil.

The Toronto City Hall in Toronto, Canada

The Bradenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany.

So, what’s the deal with all these elaborate promotional efforts?

Well, at first glance, these scenes might seem real—but they’re not. It’s all thanks to the magic of AI! While these digitally-crafted visuals had many convinced, they’re not actual stunts. Still, as a concept and execution, it’s a solid 10/10 effort.

That said, one thing that is real is the photo at the top of this article. Taken in Long Beach, California, it shows actual plastic wrap featuring the red Dexter: Original Sin logo, release dates, and catchphrases—spotted in a famous Los Angeles location. Check out two images shared by Showtime from the scene below!
