Brian Moser Lookalike in Dexter: Original Sin Episode 2 Sparks Fan Theories – Could It Actually Be Him?

Wait, was that... Biney? Here's everything we gathered.

Dexter: Original Sin returned for its second week, and this time, we were treated to not one, but two new episodes, now available on Paramount+ with Showtime. Episode 2, titled "Kid in a Candy Store," features several 1970s flashback scenes that explore the complicated relationship between Harry Morgan and Laura Moser. In one of these scenes, we get a glimpse of toddler versions of Dexter and Brian, living their ordinary lives before tragedy strikes.

Speaking of Brian, let's turn our attention to a moment in the second episode that has fans speculating Dexter: Original Sin may have introduced us to the adult version of Dexter's biological brother! The scene, which appears around the 17-minute mark, shows Dexter and his Miami Metro colleagues—Batista, Masuka, and Watt—taking a lunch break at a nearby restaurant.

As Dexter sits down at the table, a man approaches him, asking if anyone is sitting in the seat across from him. Dexter quickly responds that he has saved the seats for his friends, who are chatting with the owner at the time. The man leaves, and we see Dexter reflecting on the fact that he now has friends. Though the man appears briefly, lasting only a moment on screen, many fans believe he bears a striking resemblance to Dexter's biological brother, so it might be actually him.

Take a closer look at the "Brian Moser lookalike" below.

So, who is this actor? His name is Roby Attal, a 26-year-old (three years younger than Patrick Gibson), even though Brian is supposed to be a couple of years older. One of his most recent roles was in The Haunting of Bly Manor, and after digging through his IMDb credits, it's curious that his name is listed, but his role in the episode is left blank. This omission raises suspicions and further fuels the theory that his character may be more than just a random extra.

Additionally, Attal is followed by four Dexter: Original Sin stars on Instagram—Patrick Gibson, Molly Brown, Alex Shimizu, and Reno Wilson. This is significant, as it’s highly unusual for an actor to have such connections unless they are more than just a brief extra on the show.

His resemblance to Christian Camargo is remarkable—same hair color, same hairstyle—and in the scene, he’s even wearing an outfit similar (except for the colors) to the one Brian Moser wears when he confronts Dexter at their mother’s house in Dexter episode 12 of Season 1.

So, based on everything we've mentioned above, could Roby Attal be playing a younger version of Brian Moser? The answer is YES.

This development raises some intriguing questions:

  • Was that the first time Brian Moser saw adult Dexter in person?
  • Did he actually want to speak with Dexter during that moment?
  • Did Brian already know that Dexter had committed his first kill at that point?
  • The events of Dexter: Original Sin Season 1 take place in 1991, while Dexter Season 1, where Brian attempts to reconnect with Dexter, takes place in 2006. Why did it take 15 years for Rudy Cooper/The Ice Truck Killer/Brian Moser to reach out to Dexter?
These questions will hopefully be answered in the coming episodes. What do you think? Was that really Brian Moser, or just a random guy?
