Spinoff News! Showtime Boss David Nevins Says He's 'Actively Working' on the Future of the Dexter Franchise

Are we going to see more from the 'Dexter' universe... soon?

Showtime

During the Edinburgh TV Festival that took place earlier today, The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Chairman and CEO of Showtime Networks David Nevins about the future of the streaming services, the competition between the streaming giants, and more. He also revealed something that we kinda suspected ever since Dexter: New Blood came to an end, back in early January of 2022. Read what he had to say about the future of the Dexter franchise, below!

When asked by THR about the franchises and brands that he as the president can see developing for Showtime or its sister streaming service Paramount+, Nevins replied:

"There are a lot of things that I am working on. I don’t want to mention things until they are ready. There are a lot of things. What is the future the Dexter franchise? I am actively working on that."

According to Dissecting Dexter podcast's Twitter account, David Nevins told Sky News that Dexter: New Blood was hugely successful for Showtime, and he also described America's favorite serial killer's latest installment, as a "rebirth of the franchise".

Is it really going to happen? And if so, who do you think has to be the main protagonist(s) of a possible Dexter spinoff? In a poll we shared days after the finale here on Dexter Daily, (see here) 11,000 voters suggested that a second season/spinoff with Michael C. Hall reprising his role as Dexter would be the best idea.
