You've raised three sons ranging in age from 22 to 15; are any of them aspiring actors?
Jason Gedrick: My youngest son actually co-starred in a short film I was in, and he was really terrific. At that point, he said, "I really don't like this. There's too much waiting around. This is for the birds." I said, "Believe me; I can relate."
That was eight, nine years ago, and he's just starting to maybe think about getting back into it. He's got some very, very wonderful instincts. He's got some physical gestures and nuance that I wish I had at his age.
Recently, you've been guest-starring in the current season of Showtime's "Dexter," and you were part of an ensemble cast in the short-lived HBO series "Luck." You've been a series lead before -- do you feel the itch to try that again?
Jason Gedrick: Well, it's a huge responsibility. I would have no problem with it as long as I felt everyone was just as committed as I was, and that the role fit like a glove. To experiment with that, it's risky. It'd better be something you love, considering it might go seven, eight seasons, like "Dexter" has done.
You live a couple hours away from Los Angeles in Santa Barbara, Calif. Why?
Jason Gedrick: It's as far away as I can get while still managing the drive. It's been a great environment for [my sons], although I've had to be sure we make trips back to the big city, because, sometimes, it's almost too nice to be here. But they're all doing really well, knock wood.
