    1. agreed! sort of like how she cried when she was doing it with Dexter's brother Brian. I hope there is a steamy love scene between the two in season 7

    2. Why isn't there a "thumps up" button?

    3. This really needs a "thumbs up".
Don't think it'll happen, for some reason the writers have been getting lighter on the sex scenes, but I really hope something like that will happen.

It would be even better if Dexter cried...

      Just saying.

I'd love for him to have that moment where he fully gets how happy he could be, and then realizes he has fucked it all up for both of them - so he experiences love to it's fullest and then gets hit with the utter failure and hopelessness of his life - and what he has done to himself and Deb and their future.

That would be beautiful, in a "pulling your heart and intestines out through your nose" kinda way.

  4. I would probably arrest Dexter, because she is already a hardcore cop, she's had to put her emotions behind her in the past. So if I were Deb, I believe I would snap into cop mode and arrest him, be him my brother or not.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Don't think she's a hardcore cop any more. She let Lumen and her mystery boyfriend go. She's going to be reminded of that, I'm sure.

cover for him, but not because of the fact he kills killers. enough with the annoying self righteousness. a killer is a killer is a killer, i dont like people that see him as a vigilante. and i see that they've already appeared in this thread. they're delusional most of the time. romanticizing the show's context seems irrational after 7 seasons. i would cover for him nonetheless, for my own reasons.

I would like you on a long black leash...I would parade you down the high street...

    2. Not sure if you're pissed at me. I didn't say I consider him a vigilante, of course he's not, he's a killer who made the best of it, doesn't make it right.

For the record. I'd let you put a leash on me anytime, just keep me out of traffic. :/

  12. I answered the question like it was real life. I wouldn't hesitate to arrest him. He's a killer, afterall. The show does a good job of making his activities look reasonable. Hell, in real life, you would more than likely have to kill someone like Dexter if you want to survive. The idea of a good killer is an interesting idea and fun to watch, but completely unrealistic when you boil it down to the facts. A killer who has killed as much as Dexter wouldn't hesitate to kill one person to keep their secret and themselves safe.

    1. Brrrring, it's for you. It's Quinn, Lumen and Jonah.

Kidding. I agree, it's like you say. It's fictional.

      Delete
    2. Trouble is; Dexter can't kill Deb, no matter what she may have learned about him. He follows the code Harry taught him; and even though there may be the conflict of not getting caught, Harry taught him to protect Deb, even from the truth. He's also #quite fond# of Deb.

      Delete
    3. Of course it's fictional.

You do know that there are tons of movies and TV series in which the hero is a bad guy?

    5. Of course I know it's fictional. That is the basis of everything I said. I was only giving my answer to how I would react to the situation of walking in on a killer murdering someone. When I voted and wrote my answer, I thought it was hilarious how many people simply said they would cover for him.

I agree that Dexter wouldn't physically hurt Debra. That has been established from the very beginning of the series. Debra is his little sister and he feels like it is his duty to protect her. Ironically, Dexter knows the value of human life. Harry taught him that. Dexter holds Debra in as high regard has he holds his son. She is basically an extension of Dexter himself, just like Harrison. Dexter would do everything to protect them both, even give his life.

Lastly, I didn't say that I don't enjoy the show or care about the characters. I haven't cared about characters this much on a show ever. (I also care about Breaking Bad's characters a lot now, but this site is not about BB, so I'll stop there.) Shows, movies and books that feature an anti-hero as its protagonist are amongst my favorite. That doesn't mean you have to agree with what those characters are doing. It's about accepting those characters, despite their flaws.

    6. The question was, what would you do if you were in Deb's shoes... I am putting on Deb's shoes (ouch(

      Which means:

A: I have been in love with Dexter all my life.
B: I have a father that I admire and I built my whole life around that trained Dexter to do what he does.
C: I am an angry cop fed up with really rotten criminals getting away with shit and not paying the price.
D: I realize that if I turn him in, my entire family is getting drug through the mud and my life is essentially over in any case. Might as well put a bullet in my head the second I turn him over to authorities. My life, and my nieces and nephew's lives are going to be DESTROYED.

      So...

I cover his ass, and tell him - Dexter, you are not allowed to do ANYTHING without my permission! From now on, I run this show.

Now, if it was me in real life? I already ran away from my family once, for FAR less!

    7. Now if I were to say what I think Debra will do, then, yes, she will protect his secret and cover for him. That makes the most sense for the direction the show has gone with Debra and her morals. At the same time, I think it would be ridiculous if Debra didn't struggle with the decision. For her to accept it immediately, that her brother is a killer, it would simply be dumb. I think it's safe to say that she won't immediately accept Dexter, though, she will stay silent long enough to come to a decision about Dexter's activities. Like you said (Z), there would be little to no collateral damage if Debra kept his secret, as opposed to letting it get out. It's better for everyone if the fact that Dexter is a killer remains a secret. Anyone should be able to figure out why, so I'm not going to get into that.

    8. Nicholas, yea...

It would hose Miami Metro - every case Dexter worked on would be thrown out of court and thousands of criminals would go free. A total nightmare.

slightly off topic. quinn seems to be getting a lot of hate as a character(never could see why, yes, he's a douchebag, but he's not that annoying. in season 6 i would go as far as to say i liked him) but if i had to choose a so called "innocent" person for dexter to kill, out of the ones that know the truth about him, it would be lumen. i've thought of many ways of doing her. slowly and painfully. to the above poster, deb staaaays...

    1. Why does everyone hate Lumen?

    2. Yes Quinn is getting a lot of hate, I wasn't always as fond of him as I am now. He redeemed himself in season 5 when he was on to Dexter. Plus it's hard to hate anyone else with Laguerta still on the show. If she makes it out alive in the end I will be devastated.

:) for me, it was season 6 with his constant drinking and acting out. for some reason, he was fun to watch and quite likeable.

6:03 please, name one thing lumen contributed to the development of the storyline and characters. just one.

    4. I'm just the opposite on this Quinn issue. I liked him more in season 3-5, than I did in season 6. I feel like he didn't really have anything to do in season 6. After the relationship between Debra and Quinn dissolved, he just kind went down hill for me as a character. I'm hoping that he can redeem himself in season 7, by the writers giving him a better storyline. I enjoy Quinn more when him and Dexter are at each other's throats. For starters, I would love to see a fist fight between Quinn and Dexter, just so Quinn would be surprised by how well Dexter can handle himself. That would be similar to the relationship that Dexter had with Doakes. At this point, it wouldn't bother me at all if they wrote Quinn more aggressive like Doakes was.

    5. Didn't Dexter knock Quinn over making him fall on his ass once? Not a fist fight I know. :)

I tried to find it on youtube but all I found was this. Quinn is such an asshole..

    7. One of the best youtube videos I've ever seen.

Yes, the writers dropped Lumen after one season. But still she was the only person (so far) who accepted Dexter without starting to kill innocent people.
She was the only Person Dex ever told the truth about himself.

i don't have a problem with innocent people dying in the show. and that character was a disaster. flat and one dimensional, predictable, annoying.

    9. The best kill so far in my back was an innocent one. That asshole in season 5 episode 1. Pretty gruesome and the growl Dexter makes always give me shivers. :D

that was sweet... haha that was an excellent kill. i liked the whole sequence with dex killing norm the hick from season 6 even more. i have a soft spot for romeo's direction-cinematography and brian moser, and having him as the visual interpretation of his dark passenger was too good for me. so from beginning to end of the killing scene i was so excited. especially when dexter got rid of the body, i felt there was so much potential from then on. it's too bad the episode ended badly but i was compensated with ricochet rabbit and its dark humour and this is the world ends.

    12. Oh that's who Norm was. I was confused the last time you mentioned him but I didn't say anything. :$

  17. While season 2 Deb would have arrested the BHB if it wasn't Dex, season 5 Deb agreed that some people deserve to die, didn't even have a problem with killing them herself (that guy in the club) and let the Barrel Girl (who never was inside a barrel) and her partner go.

Season 6 Deb is in love with Dex.
Season 7 Deb while find out that Dex is the BHB.

The only question is whether they will have sex or not. (I hope yes.)

  20. I would blackmail the crap out of him. Not just "can you go search that place I don't have a warrant for" and "could you please kill that douchebag who go off on a technicality" and stuff like that, it would be "run down to the store and pick me up a six pack and a box of tampons" and "I need my car washed. Now." If I were Deb I'd be a little bit pissed when I put it all together and figured out why my father neglected me and spent all his time with my weirdo foster brother.

I really hope she does all that, it would be pretty gratifying, considering all the trouble Dex has caused her. It would also be kind of hilarious.

  22. Other; I would just freeze. Just stand there, have no reaction at all, followed by acting all understanding and shit, then I would have left, panicked, packed my shit, left Miami and never look back. followed by changing my name, working in a coffee place or something and simply just trying to forget the fact that my brother kills people, and eventually I would have gone mad.
