The season 6 finale of Dexter just aired! What did you think of episode 6.12 "This is the Way the World Ends"? Vote below!!

  1. It's disappointing that they're having Deb fall in love with Dexter. That's just beyond cheesy.

  2. i was surprised at how slow the episode progressed, but the last five minutes was the best five minutes of the season.

  3. you failed!!!
Brother Sam didn't come in today's episode...

  4. I still don't know what to think. It was a disappointing ending yet..was brilliant and perfectly executed. I was expecting some main character's death or something with Lewis' package. This caught me off guard and made my stomach drop. I believe the only reason the writers wanted Deb to be in love with Dexter is so she is torn even more whether she should turn in her brother, or make it there little secret. Overall I have to say this season was fantastic, it was.. (dare I say it) better than season 4. This will really shake up the very foundation of the show, hopefully the writer's will deliver once again in 2012.

  5. it was great, just one thing, what in heavens name will be the words be that come out of his mouth in the first episode of next season? how do you explain that? husbands have been caught in bed with another woman and they always say "its not what it looks like..or..its not what you think"..but it always is, LOL...what else could it be..but if you walk in on someone driving a blade into someone else, then, well..I can't think of what I would say to explain myself..don't envy those writers!

  6. Funny thing is I predicted it again its like idk maybe the 4th i do But Yea it was predictable Dexter had a plan like I said inject him self with something harmless then kung fu chop travis. Then deb would walk it on the kill and i also said harry wouldnt die now if deb open an investigation on dex his fucked big time the bloody shirt of travis on his apartment not to talk about the slides well actual i saw u kill that bitch but there is a good chance of her letting him go (again)

  8. I wonder if Deb's falling in love with Dexter will allow him to continue because she can keep the secret. Let's face it, Deb is unlucky in love, especially when it was the ice truck killer. I think she is turning to him because he is her safe place. Dex didn't pick up on it because he's busy doing what he does. I thought this season was good and the whole Doomsday Killer thing was brilliantly thought out. So glad to see it on track for season 7 & 8 but sometimes I wonder where this is all going and how it will end. After all, nothing is forever....

  9. Where was Dexter's dad?

    ReplyDelete
  10. He is going to have to explain that he was the Bay Harbor Butcher to Deb and that an innocent man took the blame.

    ReplyDelete
  11. pLEASE SOMEONE TOLD ABOUT HARRISON?

    ReplyDelete
  12. It was clear the dexter was never going to inject himself they never showed fluid in the actual syringe. Even though I sat there and told my mother how what all is as it was happening my heart was pounding. I think it was a brilliant ending so many questions to be answered in the next 2 seasons. It didn't disappoint but there were some loose ends like the boat that had all the plastic wrap in it. Why did no 1 find Harrison's mask at the crime scene? AND why do I suddenly not want to kill LaGuerta?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Not the ending I wanted, but an ending I will accept.

Debra Morgan loves her brother... and this is not an "implanted" suggestion by the therapist, it simply is as it is. Thank god we finally got here after all these years are freaking OBVIOUS goo goo eyes and possessiveness, and controlling behavior, and her constantly wanting to live in his condo and spend the night, and taunting him with the sex she is having, and picking out what women he should be with, and asking him about his own sex life, and barging into his bedroom, and fighting with all the other women in his life and haggling with him about "Are you taking HER side? Over Mine?" and getting on him about "This isn't Rita's night, it's my night!" And blushing at him every time he gives her a compliment, and on and on and on.

Oh and by the way, all you people who missed this since the f'ing first Deb/Dex scene of the pilot way back all those years ago?

You are at least as emotionally perceptive as Dexter F'ing Morgan himself!!!!

*sigh* Sorry had to just get that off my chest.

It's been a LONG time coming!

  14. SHAKING AND CRYING
that's all i have to say at the moment

  15. Nicely done guys.

Well thought out, rising plot excitement and then bang the kicker!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow. That is not what I expected. I was glad that Harrison is okay. I would have liked to seen Laguerta be done away with. I can't take much more of her. I think they had to make Deb fall in love with Dexter. She has to be able to keep his secret or the show can't continue as is. All I know is that 9 months is way to long to find out what happens. : (

  17. Holy Crap! What an ending!!! Can't wait for next season. Deb is in love and she's going to protect him.

    ReplyDelete
  18. yes, harrison is fine but dex has a lot of explaining to do. from what harry taught him to all the "big cases" that dex dealt with under homicides nose this will be interesting

  19. In London, missing the finale! Ur going to see the end before I do! They cut out the last half of the finale from the rough cuts... Torture! - Jennifer Carpenter (via her twitter)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I was freaking out during the last few minutes... but I'm so glad that finally happened! I'm going to go insane waiting for next season; there are so many things I'm excited to see!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Awesome season!!!! Deb cried way too much though. I don't like how Dexter always gets the bad guy at the end. Miami Metro never seems to solve any cases because Dexter always kills them first. I'd like to see them solve cases before Dexter once in a while. The ending with Deb definitly made up for it though!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't like the idea that they made Debra in love with her brother but I guess this is what it is so she will keep quiet and I hate the idea that i have to wait soooo long to see the next season they have to give us more

    ReplyDelete
  23. Notice she didn't hear him say the serial killer part. So he has but one kill to explain, and that's Travis. Not too sure it'll be that hard for her to look away from that one.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh, and another thing: All he has to say is Travis came back to the church and tried attacking him with the syringe, but that he got Travis first. Then he was so angry he did what he did.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The only way he is going to get outta this one is to kill DEB and frame Travis!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anon at 11:25

It was just always written that way, they use a lot of foreshadowing in the series.

Like this year, if you watch the church scene in episode 10, it's traditional Dexter stuff.

After Deb has her panic attack, Dexter shares the details of his mother's death with her. He ONLY does that with his future lovers (Rita, Lila, Lumen, and now Deb).

Right after he does that, he suggests Debra is pregnant and she curses him out. He did to shake her out of her mood, but he was ALSO projecting his subconscious desire to have a child with her, and probably foreshadowing that there will be a Dexter/Deb baby before the end.

The entire show has been about "blood" about how Dexter was "born in blood" how he is infatuated and repelled by blood, how he was 'brother' in blood with Brian. It is only natural that there would eventually be a child that would have both Harry and Dexter's "blood".

Harry loved Dexter without reservation, without judgement, unconditionally, as if he was his own blood. And now Deb has taken that even a step further.

This has always been the story of the show. Despite what the video game demo wants, this show is about characters and about the story originally presented in season one.

Ever since Harry died, Dexter has been searching for that one person who he can share himself with, the one person who he can let it.

All that time Deb has been begging him to let her in, this is what she has always wanted. Go back and watch her rage about this in the elevator in season one. "If anyone is going to be privy to your secrets Dexter, it's going to be ME! I HAVE EARNED THAT RIGHT!"

It was only natural that she be the only one who can really handle it because of her complete and total love for him.

This may not appease the kill crazy people who are into this show only for the "gimmick" but they are missing the metaphor and the heart of the show.

Not a huge fan of the Travis storyline, but he served his purpose. Season 6, in my opinion, will stand above Season 3 and 5, when it is all said and done. For an aging show with a demanding and unsatisfiable audience, the writers did about as well as they could possibly do. They stuck it out and they followed the lead of the characters.

If anything, I think they backed away from certain character elements a little bit too much.

    ReplyDelete
  27. deb going to have flash backs from when she was on the table if you all remember brother Brian had her on the table and she is gonna connect the dots

    ReplyDelete
  28. Best episode of the entire season, for sure. I got my kill fix... he hadn't killed in a while. Perhaps thats why this whole season has been boring? I'm glad they ended it that way though, beacuse if they hadn't I wouldn't be as excited to see next season at all... GOOD EPIOSDE, overall, I still love Dexter!

    ReplyDelete
  29. 12:10. That's a good point that I hadn't thought of. It's bound to dawn on her that Travis is wrapped up exactly like she was.

It's tense moment but it would be a nice life if he did actual say "it's not what it looks like" as he's pulling the knife out of his chest.

Also, he's going to have to take a break from dealing with Deb at some point to cut Travis into little pieces. It would have been more convenient if she had walked in on him during the stuffing body parts into trash bags stage.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dexter is getting sloppy. He could have at least locked the door to the church.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Frankly, I thought it was by far and away the worst season ever!

First, they made no attempt to address last season's finale - with the foreboding of Dexter's secret eventually being discovered, from either Debra OR Dexter's perspective, despite the 'close call', and second, one thing this show did better than any other was close the chapeter each season, without stupid 'cliffhangers' forcing us to wait several months for answers!

Now, we're looking at waiting 9 months to find out how they address the discovery by Debra that Dex is a killer, how she will deal with her 'love' for Dexter, and of course, how one witll affect the other.

Worst season yet, and considering the show will probably only run one of two more seasons, I hope they rebound with a better concept.

My prediction is that Debra will find out that Dexter's M.O. has everything to do with bringing people to justice who have escaped the wrath of the police and the court system, will appreciate his 'proper' motivation, and will form an unbeatable team in the pursuit of bad guys, maybe even being discoverd together by the homicide team by the series finale. That's guess.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I didn't like the tease with the ice truck killer's signature hand, we didn't even get to see Dexter's reaction and have 0 information about who Louis really is. The ending was really awesome we all knew Deb was going to find out eventually i just had no idea it would be so soon!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think Deb is going to need to schedule some more counceling

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well the whole thing with the cop (Deb's Dad's friend) let's us know that Deb has somewhat been "forced" into keeping secrets - maybe even go as far as to say - corrupted. If Deb is such a good detective (and now lieutenant) she should have already figured out that she was in love with Dexter, she didn't need a shrink to tell her. She was just playing dumb and had the shrink bring it out of her.
It makes me wonder if the demise of the actual marriage of the actors who play Deb and Dex, was just another Hollywood publicity stunt. If you don't really follow the story line of the show, it can be a bit difficult to watch a real married couple play brother and sister.
BTW, Laguerta had a pretty good foreshadowing scene on the roof during her conversation with Deb, when she tells Deb to re-prioritize, and that "you will find him" referring to Travis (or Maybe even Dexter

    ReplyDelete
  35. 1, 2, and 4 are still safe in whatever order you want to put it in. It's been a weak one, but I might put it above 3 and 5.

What's worrisome is the trend. Two seasons in a row of not quite up to the standards previously set. But that can happen to shows as they age. It's tough to keep them fresh and new while still providing the stuff that has made them compelling in the past.

I give the writers credit for "going there" I really thought they'd wait till the last season to deal Deb in. Really curious how they'll handle it. I hope she's not on board right away and she wrestles with it. The upside is that it's going to bring them closer together. Dexter has only felt truly close to the people who knew him for who he was: his father, his brother, Lumen, Miguel.

    ReplyDelete
  36. First off I loved this season. I thought the use of faith was a brilliant move by the writers. Second the season finale would have been pretty plane without deb walking in on the kill. It shook up the idea of dexter always getting his guy much like season 4. Finally the side story that really caught my interest was that of Louis. Im very much looking forward to seeing where they are going with that. My opinion is that next season dexter will be trailing a killer very much like him and he wont realize is underhis nose the entire time. Well done.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anon at 12:41

Yea, I think they waited 1 season too long for Deb to find out, and I think they waited 1 season too long to fully reveal the love story. I really think they counted on the audience being smarter than they were, unfortunately. That being said, I understand how and why they felt the need to bridge the gap between Rita and Debra with Lumen.

  38. Louis = villian of season 7. I'm calling it now

    ReplyDelete
  39. There is one thing that's bothering me about the ending. What the hell was Deb doing at the church. She was going to try and tell how she felt to Dexter. But why would she go looking for him at the church? It doesn't make any sence. It cant be that she was looking for Travis, she knows Travis wouldn't be that stupid to go hide there again.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Never mind I just remembered Deb asking Dex to do a final sweep of the Church. Just so you know. There will be two more seasons

    ReplyDelete
  41. Last Scene was awesome, but episode was poor

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have to say this season was absolutely boring until the last 5 minutes of the final Episode. I've had the last 3 weeks sitting on my DVR un-watched until my brother called and asked if I had the seen the final episode and how he couldn't believe what had just happened. I told him not to spoil it for me...so I put myself through the final few episodes and like I stated the last 5 mins were the best of this season! I was starting to lose interest but now I can not wait to see how this one goes!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Agree with 2:36 the episode, up until the last few minutes were ordinary.

They deal with Quinn in a 1 minute scene, we won't be seeing him anymore.

The good thing is, they have an end-game now and they can work towards it, it's best to not let a good show go on for too long.

Shame LaGuerta didn't die/leave but i guess they had her redeem herself a little bit at the end with her talk to Deb.

The whole Deb & Dex thing, is she going to realise that yes, she is attracted to not-so-good guys and think it's all her fault?

A bit miffed they didn't show Dex opening the box with the prosthetic hand. Maybe Deb will find that and think that Dex is trying to embrace his brother's way of life?

Louis is definitely the bad guy in season 7, maybe through to season 8.

The person who replaces Quinn will probably find out about Dexter and go all Doakes on his ass :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. So Deb knows Dexter is a killer, but will she work out that he is the Bay Harbour Butcher?

    ReplyDelete
  45. 3:02 It will be interesting to see how much he confesses and how much she can figure out if he doesn't. He could go the "this was just a one time thing" route or use it as an opportunity to get it all out.

The big challenge is explaining his "dark passenger" in a way she can live with in the first place. Deb's, and our (in real life) natural reaction will be "if you caught Travis why not just turn him over to the cops?" It's kind of disturbing to have to respond "well, I have this intense need to exact personal vengeance coupled with a general desire to murder people and working within the legal system would deprive me of that thrill."

This wasn't one of those the-law-couldn't-touch-him so this was the only way kills. I suppose he has the fact that he kidnapped Harrison and he could say he just snapped.

You could argue that Deb will be the first person to know who wasn't consumed with bloodlust themselves. His father wanted people murdered, Miguel wanted to kill, Lumen felt she needed to kill. They could all relate to Dexter in a way that at first glance Deb will be unable to. I think it's a writerly challenge to get her on board since she has no point of entry into it like the others.

    ReplyDelete
  46. when do you think the season 7 trailer will come out

    ReplyDelete
  47. poor... untill last scene

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Alex they probably won't start filming season 7 until May so it could be a while :(

    ReplyDelete
  49. @4:10

I disagree with what you said about Deb. I think she will accept it, or at least she will help Dexter get rid of his dark passenger. Don't forget that Deb didn't arrest the vigilantes (Dex, Lumen) when they killed Jordan Chase. She has accepted that not everything is black or white.

I believe the Ice Truck Killer hand will bring Dexter and Deb closer together. Debra will be so scared to go through this all alone.

    - The hand has Travis's fingerprints all over it.
    - The box on the fridge and the knife in the drawer have Travis's and Jamie's fingerprints.
    - Louis is fascinated about serial killers.
    - At episode11 (26m 11sec), Dexter overheard a conversation between Masuka and Louis. Masuka would send Louis in Evidence for a couple of days.

In the beginning Dexter and Deb might mistakenly think that Travis had an accomplish (Louis) in Miami Metro. Louis will be under their radars for the wrong reasons... and sooner or later, Dexter will find the real truth about him.

  50. it was the worst season so far but the ending was ok, u know, there is some perspective for the next one...

  51. dexter season 6 was about judgment and faith, why dont you understand, that travis was for the table for all the kills he didnt need at that time.

  52. OMG Amazing!! I hope the writers/creators/producers/directors are going to be quick and choose the next famous actor/s for series 7 so they can start shooting!! Would love to see Lumen coming back, Deb will surely want to kill her!!!

  55. It was a boring season, no doubt about that - but the ending was ok. In my opinion, they'll never be able to top the season 4, never ever! Not even if in the next season the lumen pops up out of nowhere and deb freaks out and kicks her ass. Let's face it people, the show's quality is declining - after reaching its peak with S04, the stuff is only going to get complicated, not necessarily poor, but complicated. And that is going to kill the very few thrills left which this show has got to offer...

    ReplyDelete
  56. Wasn't there some news article on this site saying Brother Sam would make an appearance in this episode? Did I miss him or what?

  57. "Not the ending I wanted, but an ending I will accept.

It's been a LONG time coming!"

I wish I could marry this post. But A-freakin-Men!

Deb is the only person who could ever accept Dexter for what he is, because she loves him that much!

I loved the season finale. Loved it!

  58. @Patrik I think as it appeared on "previously on Dexter"...

    ReplyDelete
  59. For me this was the perfect ending for this season, but not with Deb learning about Dexter's secret. In the exact moment Deb came through that door and saw Dexter in action imagine instead of her would be Louis with a camera and saying to Dexter something like "Hi, Dexter!".That was the ending I was expecting, really I didn't expect Deb at all, my mind was all about Louis and his obsession with Dexter. The guy even let his games aside for Dexter. His obsession must be pretty deep. However, I am not complaining, I think this was a great ending, only I thought it would be Louis and not Deb.And now we are supposed to wait for months until season 7?!Unbelievable!!!

  60. I dimmed the lights, started my fireplace, with a bowl of pop corn in my hand intensely watched the finale. At times, I jumped out of my chair and literally screamed. It was the greatest 60 minutes full of surprises and twist & turns. Thank you to all the creators of this great show. I look forward to many, many more seasons.

  63. Dexter has been on six yeaes so yea its pretty predictiable he needs to have more kills. He use to have a kill every episode and that's why I watched. I do not like Deb thought she was annoying since Season !.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Luke...they still have the Harrison storyline. Will he become a killer too or grow up to find his dad is one? We only have two seasons left and they need to bring Chip Johannsen back he did awesome on Homeland.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Holy Dexter! It was an Amazing finale! I really enjoy cliffhangers and this one def did not disappoint me. The promo for the finale gave it away for me that Deb would catch Dex. I love it. The last scene was fantastic. Deb was speechless no F**ks, just slient. Dexter after commenting that he is not sure about God, ends up say: "ohh God" Lol,it was great. I also love how all the storylines are left open for speculation for next season. Overall great season. I know many of us have S1, S2, and S4 as the best, I put Season 6 up there with the others. So much happend in Dexters journey this year. We saw him being more "human" this season than any other, b/c of Harrison. There are so many other reasons as well.
HAHAHA to everyone who thought (I saw the result poll for major character death) that Quinn was goin to die! I honestly thought lil Batista (Jaime) was going to get hacked off. But Quinn was great this season. I do think he will return. The Union has his back and I doubt that Batista will push the transfer. I really see Quinn redeeming himself in S7.
Besides the Deb/Dex reveal, Louis and his obsession with Dex and being the new Big Bad, I want to see if we will see any change with Harrison. Dexter was "born in blood" and Harrison was held by a lunatic with a sword and saw his Dad trying to save him. I wonder if they will tackle that next season, will it be enough to turn Harrison in following his Daddys footsteps? Can not wait for S7!

    ReplyDelete
  66. The best 5 mins of Dexter's... But it's a kind of cliffhanger... Now over 10 months of waiting... That's the worst part of it... Can't wait for Season 7

    ReplyDelete
  67. Overall, another amazing season, but I was a little dissapointed in a few of the frayed loose ends... Obviously they will have to be addressed early in season 7. Waiting for 9 months every year to see the next, each season it is as if you just got told "You're Pregnant" in the finale and the anticipation, fears, dreams, and hopes are what you get while you wait for the birth of a new... I think this is going to be a complicated pregnancy! LOL!
In the very first season opener, Dexter made the comment that if he were ever to really feel love for someone, it would be Deb. I am somewhat dissapointed they decided to make her fall in love with him though. I cringed at the bits of them together and think it would be hard to watch them in a relationship that involved sex. I hope seeing what she has, it will keep Deb out of Dex's bed even if she does love him like that. The two are in for a lot of discussion and I think it will be good for Dex to get to be real with her about his life finally. She obviously won't turn him in. She was willing to keep the secret for Matthews and she's let him go before with Lumen. She will have to know it all when it is all said and done. She was there with Lundy investigating the Bay Harbor Butcher and saw his cheeky signature. Now Travis is lying on the table with the same facial slice. No way they can dumb her back down enough to forget that or that Doakes was accused of it. His brother Brian was a serial killer too and her love interrest there almost did her in. She will realize all before long... He'll have to explain Harry's training and unfold the whole package of his passenger's past for her. DRAMATIC will be season 7!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Quinn will stick around because Deb is pregnant, which, of course, further complicates her feelings for Dexter and his dark passenger. Should be a great season 7.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I knew it I knew it I friggin' knew it. I predicted this exact final moment. WAY BACK before the season premiere even aired. I even commented on some post on this site saying I thought the season would end with Deb walking in on Dexter killing someone and the credits would roll right after showing the look on each of their faces. I KNEW IT!!!! What an amazing season this has been Better than season 4 even imo. Scott Buck is THE MAN. I know he is going to give us an amazing final 2 seasons. I never would have thought that Deb would fall in love with Dexter like that, but now that it has happened, it makes a lot of sense to me, and I think it leaves the door wide open to her accepting Dexter for who he is and what he is. Great work Team Dexter. Best series EVER!!! Can;t wait for season 7.

    ReplyDelete
  70. P.S ....I may have missed it if someone else brought this up ..but another reason I think she wouldn't turn him in, one of the main reasons in fact, is Harrison. Dexter is all the boy has.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Actually Dexter's actions, in the final scene of the FINALE are EASILY explainable in the Season 7 opener. Deb had asked Dexter to conduct a FINAL analysis of the crime scene at the church where Travis (& Geller) had operated. Anyway, as Dexter was conducting his analysis, Travis creeps up on him, and Dexter kills him. The REASON the murder is conducted in such a brutal and ritualistic manner is because Dexter REALLY hates Travis for abducting Harrison, (but unsuccessfully using him as a sacrifice), according to how he explains it to Deb....

  73. Mollie:

I wouldn't worry about those awfuls! There are a lot of trolls out there right now. Most of them are "Breaking Bad" fans that love their show so much they see fit to take over Dexter forums and talk about how great their show is and how much ours sucks... Bizarre behavior, but what do you expect from little boys? I can't imagine why they think that this is going to make more people watch Breaking Bad, all it does is make me think they are an annoying fanbase!

Obviously Deb and Dexter are not going to get a "Happily Ever After" but I really want them to have an "Oasis" - you know, just a short time as a real happy family with Harrison, the kind of love that Dexter has never been able to experience yet. Someone who really knows him, loves him completely and sees him for everything he is. For all the bad he has done, and the monster that he is. I hope he does get that moment, and of course, Deb deserves it as well.

  76. Poor Deb. Always falls in love with a wrong man and probably a serial killer.

  77. Season six has been a long time coming. There was no way writers could have waited another season for Deb to find out they've dragged it on long enough. As far as Deb/Dexter it makes perfect sense that they would fall in love. Dexter even admits that if he were to ever love anyone it would be Deb and thats in season one. Debs therapist just pointed out what Deb clearly knows is already there. Also this will help Deb understand Harry, it wasn't that Harry didn't love her but he had to help Dexter. There's no way that Dexter could explain this away as just a one time kill its way to obvious that he's done this before. The plastic everywhere (Deb has seen before) and just the way Dexter is when he stabs Travis and when Deb catches him he reacts like I wasn't supposed to get caught not like I shouldnt be doing this. As far as Louis I think his obsession with Dexter is more then just him wanting to become a serial killer. I think Louis is the son of Brian which is why he sent Dexter the hand. I also think thats why he was so confused by Dexter's reaction to his game because he already has an idea that Dexter kills people. Also don't forget Louis gave Dexter that new search engine and its possible he has been tracking his computer activities. As far as Quinn he may not be in season 8 but he def will be in season 7 he even says that he can't be transferred out not yet anyway.
