Aimee Garcia on Dexter Season 6: "I'm Living A Dream"

Aimee Garcia aka Jamie Batista talks about Dexter Season 6 and more on ology.com.

There are actors that would kill to be on Dexter— and you’re one of the few who gets to be a part of a show that’s a pretty big deal. How excited are you for that?
I am living a dream. I pinch myself every day that I am working opposite Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter and David Zayas and working with Emmy-winning writers. It’s my favorite show, I’ve actually always loved Dexter since season one and I actually said the same thing a few months before I joined the cast. Someone asked me, “what do you want? What would be your dream?” and I said, “my dream would be to have a great role on a great show like Dexter.” And I said it out loud in the universe and you know, 60 days later I get to not only be on my favorite show of all time, but I’m in every episode and I get to be just such a cool, smart girl who is hot and really comfortable in her skin and she’s in her bikini the first time you see her but she’s extremely good at what she does and she’s fiercely protective of Harrison and Dexter himself. Sounds like it. We’re jealous!
And I’ve been fortunate but I have to tell you, working on Dexter is— I think it’s the best show on TV. I mean, I know I’m biased (laughing) but you know you have a great show when you read the script and you can’t believe it and when the crew that’s been part of the show for 6 years, it surprises them too. The other day, I was on set and the scripts had just come out, and someone said, “can you believe it?” and then the make-up artist said, “don’t tell me, don’t tell me,” ran to the trailer, and read it right there. You’ve been part of a show for six years, and you’re still running to read the fresh-off-the-press-script!

What kind of effect will Jamie have on the season?
Well, I guess you’ll just have to wait and see, won’t you? (laughing) You’ll get to know Jamie really well. I feel like I’m in the military… like, I can tell you but I might have to kill you! (laughing) You’ll know about me after episode nine or ten. I’m being so vague and cryptic, I’m sorry!

Can we at least confirm that there is more to her than meets the eye?
Possibly. Isn’t that the deal with every girl?

You just won’t give us anything will you?
Hey, you know how it is. I don’t wanna ruin the fun for you.

So why should we tune in?
Because Dexter has his mojo back and he’s the Dexter we all know and love. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. It does a lot of throwbacks to the first couple of seasons, so I think the fans that came on board at the very beginning are gonna appreciate it and the fans that are new fans, it’s just gonna blow their mind. Whenever you think they can’t do something, that’s what happens and it’s pretty cool to see things on a much bigger scale and when a serial killer tries to find fake, you never know where that’s gonna lead.
