Latest From TV Guide - Will Dex Find a New Love This Season?
Latest from TVGuide.com. Interview with Aimee Garcia. After Dexter's titular character lost his wife to a devious serial killer and his girlfriend to a happier life without her Dark Passenger, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is on his own this year as he tries to figure out single fatherhood. Fortunately, he'll have the help of the new nanny, Jaime Batista (Aimee Garcia), who happens to be the younger sister of Sgt. Angel Batista (David Zayas).
Last season Dexter finally opened up to the possibility of love, so there's hope that a new relationship could blossom between the blood splatter expert and his child's caretaker, even if their dispositions are polar opposites. TVGuide.com chatted with Off the Map's Garcia, who also discusses Jaime's relationship with her brother and the constant danger a nanny to a serial killer faces, especially when she's practically living with him:
What can you tell us about your character, Jamie?
Aimee Garcia: She's a carefree, smart graduate student. She's studying Child Psychology, so being a nanny is a perfect job for her. She's a very good nanny and absolutely adores Harrison and equally adores Dexter and thinks he's the best dad in the world. She's completely unaware of his extracurricular activities. Edward James Olmos Talks Dexter Season 6 & Professor Gellar
In the current issue of Long Island Pulse Magazine, Olmos speaks candidly with writer Aileen Jacobson. Whether they’re saints or sinners—a leader of the last remnant of mankind, a courageous teacher or the nemesis of a sensitive seeker—the characters played by Edward James Olmos are generally men of substance and strength, memorable standouts in the films or TV shows in which they appear.
So it’s no surprise that when the producers of Dexter were looking for a new character for their hit Showtime series about a conflicted serial killer who murders other killers, they chose Olmos.
The new role builds on Olmos’ impressive body of work, including his previous turns as Admiral William Adama in the 2003-2009 science fiction series Battlestar Galactica, as a high school teacher who inspired struggling inner-city students to learn calculus in the 1988 movie Stand and Deliver, and as the sinister officer Gaff in the 1982 film Blade Runner.
Can you tell me a little about your character in Dexter?
The character I’m playing is a professor of theology, and he’s pretty much the inspiration to one individual in particular—the role that’s played by Colin Hanks. I really can’t say that he’s a bad guy, because that’s the whole gist of the series. That would be a spoiler. The character definitely motivates a lot of people, with his theology studies and his understanding of theology. Read more after the jump...

Scott Buck: "When We Came to Edward James Olmos’ Name We Knew That Was Our Professor Gellar"
Via Long Island Pulse - In the current issue of Long Island Pulse Magazine, Olmos speaks candidly with writer Aileen Jacobson: For its sixth season, the team behind Dexter looked at a long list of actors to play Professor Gellar, a charismatic religious studies teacher, “but when we came to Edward James Olmos’ name we knew that was our Professor Gellar,” said executive producer Scott Buck.
“We wanted someone with a quiet intensity who could convey a sense of formidable power with just a glance, He was cast very early in the process. I believe the first script was still in the works, so once he was signed we very specifically shaped the character to the actor.”

However, one of the coolest parts was crime scene table, which featured all sorts of props that fans of the show would go crazy over. See more photos and read the Q&A with C.S.
