Dexter Season 6 Spoilers: Dexter is Getting Back to its Roots!

Latest from Ausiello (TVLine.com). We just can't wait! Click the link below to read new spoilers about Dexter Season 6!

It’s out with the new and in with the old as Dexter heads into its sixth season. “Dexter this season will be in some ways a return to the Dexter that you’ve seen in the early seasons,” Showtime president David Nevins told TVLine at Thursday’s 4th Annual Television Academy Honors in Beverly Hills. “There’s a really interesting story and journey that he’s going to be on this year. There’s going to be some degree of getting back to his roots.”
And that includes putting the focus back on the sibling dynamic at the heart of the show. “There will be a microscope on the Deb/Dexter relationship this season,” Nevins revealed. “Over time you’re going to see that relationship evolve and change, no questions about it.”

Season 6 — production on which begins later this month ahead of a fall premiere — will be similar to Season 5 in at least one key way: Dexter won’t face off against a singular menace a la Trinity and the Ice Truck Killer. “It is not one big bad,” he confirmed. “There’s one interesting story that will move through the season, and it will be cast very interestingly, but it’s not exactly that one person.”

  2. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to see season 6. Seasons 1 and 2 were my favourite. There was a kind of mystique about the character during those days. One could not help but being fascinated by Dexter's child like delight in analysing blood spatter patterns and cleverly deducing logical conclusions. Dexter's life has been messed up enough already. I would love to see the old Dexter......IN CONTROL.......tackling all the problems in his life with SHEER SKILL and cleverness. And let Deb find out about him already. Maybe not all at once, but little by little, but steadily. It'll be extremely riveting to see the Dex/Deb relationship evolve in to something more complex than what it is now, as Deb gradually gets more and more revelations about Dexter's dark side. Maybe Dexter saves his sister from someone at the last minute by killing the person, and Deb clearly witnesses him. Well, okay this particular idea may sound lame...but i'm sure the writers are much more competent in creating more interesting situations. :D

  4. YESSSS! I love the early-season Dexter <3
Also, LOVE the relationship between Deb and Dex. This season is going to be perfect! Now Lumen just needs to come back.

  5. lol why does lumen have to get back, she was one of the most lamest characters ever.

  6. agree Lumen sucks

  7. Lumen was boring, dry, and not interesting at all. The worst thing to happen to the show. The show is called Dexter because it is about Dexter the sociopath, not Dexter and Lumen's romantic relationship. Talk about nauseating. Good thing they're going back to their roots with original characters and interesting storylines.

  8. I dont want Lumen to come back personally. I kinda liked her, she served her purpose, and that was to get Dexter back to being Dexter. He was a mess after Rita died. Remember when he killed Boyd, he just didnt feel it the same way, and the ordeal with Lumen brought him back. That needed to happen. Season five was really just an after thought of the 4th seasons climax. We saw Dexter's life totally turned upside down, and that had to be fixed, where other shows would have done that in 1 or 2 episodes, and just blown the Rita thing off, Dexter made a season out of it, and that was smart I think, because it really gave resonance to Ritas death and the effect it had on Dexter.

  9. I agree with 'idwalkamile4akramelred'. Season 5 gave weight and dimension to the climax of season 4. However now we look forward to a new season, story line, charachters... it should be a thriller! In my heart of hearts, I'm hoping that we'll get to see Deb really try to accept Dexter's dark passenger when she finds out (if she finds out). To simply write him off would be selling the story short, in my humble opinion.

  11. I heard Kathy Bates might be on the show as a vilan.

  12. I miss the flashbacks of Dexter and Harry they had back in earlier seasons. They were my favorite to see how Dexter evolved into what he is today. I'm betting the Dexter/Deb scenes are going to relate more to her perhaps learning his secret. I hope that the family aspect of his character comes more into play this next coming season.

  13. Well, I hope Lumen will not come back because it's like Dexter was teaching her. We don't need her anymore. What about Dexter is teaching his children to kill or something like that would be great. Also, Deb and Dexter... Well... What could really happen? Personally, I wanna see and know more of Dexter's thoughts, life, secrets and feelings.

  14. I would like to see some storylines involving Dexter avenging Astor or Cody somehow... similar to the early episode when he took out a potential child predator (with no evidence other than pictures in his camera) when he took the kid's picture on the beach... Dexter is a very entertaining, unique, and thought provoking thriller series. I hope it goes on for a while. Not thrilled with the Lumen storyline, but at least it was more thought out than the Lyla storyline. I wish more of "Dexter" had gone into that kill. I would have loved to see two or three episodes devoted to stalking Lyla in a foriegn country and setting up the "kill room", dealing with foreign investigators, explaining his trip upon his return.... etc.

  15. It's not ridiculous to think that Dexter might kill someone infront of Deb to save her...that's exactly what happens at the end of the first book. The only difference is that it's the Ice Truck Killer he kills and Laguerta dies, with Deb taking her job

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, Laura did say that we will "not believe what happens with Laguerta this season" so its possible that what happened in Darkly Dreaming Dexter might happen now with Laguerta dying and Deb taking over while she knows what Dexter is..

  17. Deb is already starting to accept that sometimes there are other ways to resolve 'problems'..and sometimes those ways are absolutely required, IE the end of S5 when she catches Dex and Lumen 'behind the sheet'.

She reviewed the rape videos so many times by the time she realized that there was a vigilante at work she had accepted that there was no room in the above board justice system to deal with people like that in the way they deserve.

  18. lumen in season 6! Dex NEEDS her in more than one way and Lumen will never be the same again regardless of dark passengers or not. stuff like that you cant EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER get rid of, and she will ALWAYS need dexter because He is the seed/guardian of her world. She has the strength to live with his darkness, the dark passenger NEVER LEAVES... psychology dictates... she WONT EVER be the same. He needs to get some balls and tell her that he loves her more than anything and that he risked his life for her... she risked her life for him! you cant just toss that shit ever ANYTHING. once the darkness comes... it never leaves... its always there... she needs him..

anyway, the writers wrote too much of her in the season, its like rekilling Rita. except worse cuz dexter is starting to turn human, and she helped him do that... he felt something he didnt have for Rita. the ratings will drop because the majority of viewers liked her alot. its just a shame that they got rid of something that made me feel good about myself and about love and then BAM they took it all away, I may not watch the show if Lumen isnt in the next season. Even if you kill all of your rapists... you will NEVER get rid of that darkness, because you will ALWAYS KNOW that there ARE others out there... not those that hurt you personally but those that hurt innocents. Lumen felt kin with Dexter's loss, so she isnt the type of person to shrug off the sufferings of innocent, and once you gain the power to kill you can NEVER undo it again. its like having sex, once you do it the first time.. well... you cant ever be a virgin again.

  19. Dexter loves her, still does... that kind of love that exceeds the bounds of self preservation is the kind that lasts FOREVER and only grow stronger!!!

  20. oh my god... good story, he gets obsessive about lumen.... and he gets revenge and justification of her killing others and hurting him.. that would be a sick fukin turn of events. LAWL.

  21. I've always wanted that to happen; two or three serial killers (not connected in any way) that Dex is going after. Maybe it'll be a good cliffhanger when you find out the identity of one of them as you did with The Ice Truck Killer. And then things could get even more twisted when one of the killers finds out that Dex is hunting someone else, and they team up! That plot would certainly be a thrill!

  22. On top of the main story (the christian nutcases), it would be great if another serial killer would start tracking Dexter like he did with the Trinity Killer... just to keep us on edge...

That black dude looks like one... just a thought...

  23. i personally think deb will die!! how amazing would that be for the climax of this show!!!

  24. THe first episode of season 6 is the worst piece of crap I have EVER seen.

The Dexter show is dead. They killed it when they killed off Rita.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Just looking back at this. That would be an awesome story line. If there was a serial killer that was hunting Dexter like he hunts his victims.. Interesting.
