Lauren Velez: "People are Going to be Surprised by What Happens with Laguerta"

Lauren Velez gave an interview on latina.com. She talked about Dexter Season 6, Laguerta, Edward James Olmos and the other new cast members: "Production began today on the sixth season of Showtime’s hit serial killer drama, Dexter — and being the nosy diehard Dexter fans that we are — we called up Puerto Rican actress Lauren Velez (AKA Lt. Maria Laguerta) to get the 411 on what’s coming up in the new season for Dexter, Laguerta and Co.
When we last saw Laguerta in season five, things between her and her husband Batista (David Zayas) were more than a little rocky. And while Velez couldn’t reveal whether that strained relationship would be getting the ax in season six, the sweet actress did tease us with this: “Right off the back," she said, "people are going to be surprised by what happens with Laguerta." POLL: Which was your Favorite Eleventh Episode of a Season?

Sunday Poll: Which is your favorite 11th episode of a season? Vote below!

Season 1 Episode 11: The Ice Truck Killer strikes again, leaving a real nightmare before Christmas at Santa's Cottage. But this time, Dexter notices that the kill is not as 'tidy' as the previous kills, as if the Ice Truck Killer is rushing to leave Miami. But in reality, the Ice Truck Killer has kidnapped someone very close to Dexter to lure him into a trap that will change Dexter's life forever. Meanwhile, Sgt. Doakes notices that Dexter has been acting strangely around the Homicide division, making him wonder if in fact, Dexter is the Ice Truck Killer.

Season 2 Episode 11: As Lundy's noose starts to tighten, Dexter finds himself dodging bullets both figurative and real. Dexter now must decide about not only his own fate but those of the people he cares most about. Lila attempts to blackmail Dexter into loving her and then makes a startling discovery that changes their relationship forever.

Season 3 Episode 11: While preparing for his big wedding day, Dexter has to figure out a way to remove Miguel from his life for good. But how does Dexter manage to do this when Miguel is not only a highly placed D.A., but also his Best Man? Rita has troubles of her own, when Syl reveals that Miguel has been seeing one of his old flames. Meanwhile, Debra finds a new clue that brings her even closer to catching the Skinner.

Season 4 Episode 11: Dexter's worst fears have been realized. Because of Debra's unrelenting pursuit, Miami Metro is just one step away from discovering the identity of the Trinity Killer. And Dexter can't let that happen. Arthur's arrest would not only deprive Dexter of a satisfying kill, it would also expose the secret life Dexter's been leading in his pursuit of this monster. Dexter must take drastic action to buy himself time to deal with Trinity in his own fashion. Meanwhile, Rita decides to confide in Dexter, which doesn't go as well as she'd hoped. LaGuerta and Batista's breach of ethics paints them into a very tight corner. And Arthur, who still can't understand why Dexter didn't simply turn him in, begins his own bloody investigation into Kyle Butler.

Season 5 Episode 11: Dexter and Lumen are trying to figure out how to get Jordan Chase but he catches on to the fact they have been under video surveillance. He manages to trace the equipment back to Joey Quinn, not realizing that Stan Liddy is behind it all. He and Lumen burglarize Quinn's apartment and find some of the photos of them at the marina. Dexter learns soon enough just who is behind it. Debra meanwhile has pretty well figured out the case and tells her colleagues about her vigilante theory: that the killer is probably the 13th victim who escaped and that she is likely being helped by a man. Lt. Laguerta is dubious however. Jordan Chase has conveniently planned to go to Europe on a speaking tour but not before he lays a trap for Dexter and Lumen.

The fifth Latino International Theater Festival of New York, to be held June 4-18, will commence with a production of "They Call Me La Lupe" starring Lauren Velez, best known for her role in the Showtime television series "Dexter."

In the one-woman show, Velez plays Guadalupe Victoria Yoli, whom the show business world knew as "La Lupe," a Cuban singer who developed her career in New York and was the voice of Tito Puente's orchestra.

La Lupe (1939-1992), remembered for hits like "Puro teatro" and "La tirana" and who was the first Latina to appear at Carnegie Hall, was acclaimed in her native New York as the queen of Latin soul.

The stage production, written for Velez by Luis Caballero and "Dexter" producer James Manos and directed by Veronica Caicedo, will be presented on June 4 at the Hostos Center for Arts and Culture in the Bronx, Susana Tubert, the founder of the festival, known as the TeatroStageFest, said in a communique.

Velez, who is of Puerto Rican origin and who has also had roles on "Ugly Betty," "Numbers" and "Law and Order," among other programs, successfully presented the show in Miami as well as the Teatro La Tea in New York last year.

Which is your favorite 10th episode of a season? Vote below!

Season 1 Episode 10: Dexter's world is shaken when he is called to the crime scene of a massacre unlike any that he's ever seen before... or so he thinks, until a series of memories comes streaming back that shock him to his core. Meanwhile, Rita has to hire a lawyer when Paul brings a surprising case against her to take sole custody of their children. Batista follows a new lead on the Ice Truck Killer case that brings him one step closer to apprehending the sadistic serial killer. But does it bring him too close?

Season 2 Episode 10: Dexter finds himself with the upper hand when Doakes tracks him to his latest kill. But when Doakes reveals a secret about Harry's past, Dexter's world comes crumbling down. Meanwhile, Rita starts letting Dexter back into her life, and the Miami Metro PD starts closing in on the Bay Harbor Butcher.

Season 3 Episode 10: Dexter feels like he's making a deal with the devil when he feigns civility around Miguel after his duplicitous ways. Dexter finds himself in a series of chess-like moves against his former friend, all while hoping that Miguel doesn't get the upper hand on him. Meanwhile, Dexter watches helplessly as Miguel draws Rita closer through a wonderful wedding gift. Debra, now back with Anton after his close call with the Skinner, wonders if her relationship with Anton is worth putting her career in jeopardy. After all, is it smart for everyone to know that she is dating a former confidential informant?

Season 4 Episode 10: Dexter finally believes he understands the beast known as Trinity. But when a ten-year old boy goes missing, Dexter is forced to question everything he's learned up to this point. It's a race against the clock. And with each step forward, Dexter has to confront the real possibility that he may have more in common with Trinity than he'd like to admit. Secrets abound — from Cody, who is forced to defend one of Dexter's lies, Masuka, who can't bring himself to confess what he witnessed at Thanksgiving, and Debra, whose recent discoveries force one of Miami's finest into making an impossible decision.

Season 5 Episode 10: Lt. Laguerta has decided to re-open the barrel girls murder case and assigns a reinstated Debra Morgan and Quinn to arrest Cole Harmon. Of course, they don't know that Dexter has already taken care of things. They do find that the men made videos of their attacks. Debra begins putting the pieces together and concludes there is a vigilante killer getting rid of the men who attacked and killed the women. From the blood in the small vial Jordan Chase wears around his neck, Dexter is able to track it to Emily Birch who, to his surprise, is still alive. She's not very cooperative however until Lumen visits her on her own. Emily identifies the fifth man as Alex Tilden and Dexter and Lumen make plans to eliminate him. They don't realize that someone has been watching them.

LOS ANGELES, CA - May 10, 2011 - Actor Colin Hanks has joined the cast of SHOWTIME's Emmy(R) nominated drama series DEXTER for Season 6. Hanks, who will appear in all twelve episodes, will play Travis, a highly intelligent young expert on ancient artifacts who gets linked to a series of grisly murders in Miami. Production on begins in June in Los Angeles and will premiere on SHOWTIME this fall.

Colin Hanks has quickly become one of Hollywood's most sought-after young actors. Hanks appeared in Oliver Stone's biopic W, in the ensemble comedy The House Bunny starring opposite Anna Faris, and the Diane Lane thriller Untraceable. Additional film credits include The Great Buck Howard, King Kong, Orange County, Get Over It and the independent films Alone With Her, Standing Still, Rx, 11:14, and Whatever It Takes. Dexter Season 6 Casting News: Colin Hanks Joins Cast

Via: TVLine.com: Colin Hanks has landed a role most actors would kill for. Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the Good Guys star Mad Men alum is joining the cast of Dexter for a major Season 6 arc.

Like with most of the Showtime’s drama’s past guest stars (e.g. John Lithgow, Jimmy Smits), the specifics of Hanks’ role are being kept under insanely tight wraps. (His character description is not believed to be among the trio of new recurring roles producers released breakdowns for earlier this month.)

If Hanks turns out to be an adversary of Dex’s, it’s unlikely he’ll fit the mold of past baddies such as Trinity and the Ice Truck Killer, given what Showtime president David Nevins recently told TVLine about the show’s coming season. “It is not [about] one big bad,” he told us. “There’s one interesting story that will move through the season, and it will be cast very interestingly, but it’s not exactly that one person.”

POLL: Which was your Favorite Ninth Episode of a Season?

Sunday Poll: Which is your favorite 9th episode of a season? Vote below!

Season 1 Episode 9: Dexter receives a registered letter that informs him that his biological father has recently died. This comes as a shock, because Harry, Dexter's adoptive father, had told Dexter that his real father had died over 30 years ago. As Dexter takes off to reconnect to his shadowy past, Rita decides to come along to help him make it through the weekend. Then Debra and Rudy join them for the weekend at the dead bio-dad's house and things become even more awkward. Back in Miami, Doakes is involved in the questionable shooting of a middle-aged Haitian man. Internal Affairs investigates and Batista has to decide if he's going to tell the truth about the shooting, or back Doakes' untrue version of the actual incident.

Season 2 Episode 9: As Dexter tries to distance himself from Lila, he discovers she is not so willing to let go of their relationship. Meanwhile Lundy's manhunt for the Bay Harbor Butcher starts to make Dexter nervous as he tries to stay one step ahead. However, in the end it is Dexter's worst enemy who discovers his secret first.

Season 3 Episode 9: Dexter starts to fear that Miguel may have strayed from the newly taught Code. This concern starts to put a strain on their friendship. And Dexter doesn't get a reprieve from this at Rita's either. Sylvia, noting how Miguel is never at home anymore, tells Rita that she is now convinced that Miguel is having an affair. Rita decides to confront Miguel about his indiscretions. Meanwhile, Anton is confirmed to have been taken by the Skinner, sending Debra into a furious search, not only for Anton, but also for his potential killer.

Season 4 Episode 9: Dexter stops by Arthur's house for a visit and realizes that though Arthur is in appearance the happy family man, he is in fact terrorizing his family. According to Arthur's son Jonah, they are all regularly beaten. Jonah is afraid to confront his father and invites Dexter for Thanksgiving dinner. The confrontation between Arthur and his family forces Dexter to take action. While Dexter is away for lunch with the Mitchells, neighbor Elliot kisses Rita and she clearly lets him, though she immediately regrets it. Meanwhile, LaGuerta and Batista finally admit to what has been obvious for some time. Elsewhere, Joey Quinn spends the holiday with his reporter girlfriend Christine Hill, but he clearly has commitment issues and is starting to feel hemmed in. After he leaves, she gets a surprise visit from her father.

Season 5 Episode 9: Dexter's life is turned upside down however with the sudden arrival of his step-daughter Astor and her friend Olivia. They're drunk and have lied about where they are. Astor is rebellious, refusing to tell Dexter what she is up to or why she is acting this way. She is also convinced that Lumen is Dexter's new girlfriend. When the girls disappear from his house, he fears that Chase is on to them and the girls have been kidnapped. Dexter is forced to reveal to his colleagues that he's been seeing Chase and they also learn about Lumen, who Dexter describes as his new tenant. At the station meanwhile, Debra has been assigned to work in the filing room and comes across some startling information about the barrel girl murders. She also learns about Quinn's suspicions of her brother.
