The former star of the beloved HBO drama was asked if he’d be open to joining the cast of Dexter: Resurrection for an on-screen reunion with Michael C. Hall.

Before Michael C. Hall was cast as Dexter Morgan back in 2005, he was already one of the leading stars of Six Feet Under, the HBO drama that ran from 2001 to 2005. Despite the 21 years that have passed since it ended, and more than 10 seasons of Dexter airing during that time, Michael C. Hall has never actually reunited on screen with one of his former Six Feet Under co-stars.
That could potentially change with Dexter: Resurrection Season 3, or even beyond that.
Peter Krause Is Open to Reuniting With Michael C. Hall
During a recent interview with Deadline at The Emmy Awards on September 14, Peter Krause, who played Nate Fisher on Six Feet Under, was asked about the possibility of appearing on Dexter now that Dexter: Resurrection is filming in New York.
The interviewer specifically asked whether the actor would ever be tempted to join the series.
Krause actually made it clear that he would be open to working with Hall again, saying, “I would go work with Michael C. Hall. I would go with Michael if he wants me to be on Dexter, and if I can find the time.”
The actor also revealed that he and Hall have remained in touch over the years. In fact, there could be another Six Feet Under reunion in the works, as Krause mentioned plans to get together with Lauren Ambrose, who played his sister Claire Fisher.
“I texted him recently. He’s going to be in New York soon, so hopefully we’re going to get together with Lauren Ambrose,” Krause said.
The conversation became even more interesting near the end of the interview when the Deadline interviewer told Krause, “I want you to be a serial killer on Dexter.”
Krause seemed surprised by the suggestion before responding, “Oh, okay. Interesting. I don’t know about that. Thank you very much!”
So, while there is currently no indication that Peter Krause is actually being considered for Dexter: Resurrection Season 3, the idea has been put on the table. And considering Krause himself said he would work with Michael C. Hall if the opportunity and his schedule lined up, a Six Feet Under reunion definitely feels a little less... impossible.
Krause has remained busy in TV in recent years, including his leading role as Bobby Nash on FOX’s 9-1-1. Whether he could eventually find the time to join Dexter: Resurrection would depend on his schedule, as well as the plans of the team behind the series.
