  4. Miami is considered the crossroads of the Latin World, could have something to do with someone coming from Argentina, right? And why the hell would they have a roadtrip in Argentina? That would be one LONG roadtrip.

  6. Could be a reference to the song...

It won't be easy, you'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
That I still need your love after all that I've done

    You won't believe me
All you will see is a girl you once knew
Although she's dressed up to the nines
At sixes and sevens with you

I had to let it happen, I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life down at heel
Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun

    So I chose freedom
    Running around, trying everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
    I never expected it to

    Don't cry for me Argentina
The truth is I never left you
    All through my wild days
    My mad existence
    I kept my promise
    Don't keep your distance

And as for fortune, and as for fame
    I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired

    They are illusions
They are not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you and hope you love me

    Have I said too much?
There's nothing more I can think of to say to you.
But all you have to do is look at me to know
    That every word is true

  7. May refer to someone's past? Hannah's maybe...

Or something to do with the Russian mob and sex trafficking.

Don't know how it could possibly tie in with Deb/Dex storyline? Metaphorically speaking, what else could it mean?!

    1. Often when it comes to Deb/Dex centric episodes they use song titles, which is why I immediately thought of that song and posted the lyrics.

For example "Return to Sender" in SEASON ONE: Was Deb/Dex centric - had the dual meaning, #1 That Brian brought that body back, and #2 the song itself is about two people who love each other fighting "We had a quarrel a lovers spat," And of course Deb is mad at Dexter, both in the past, and in the present and the episode ends with him saying "I'll give her some time."

Not to mention "Born Free" the last episode of S1 where they actually used the song in the episode, which was an episode where Brian wanted to kill Debra to "Free" Dexter, but Dexter rejected that and killed Brian to save Deb.

In season 4, the episode "Blinded by the Light" both refers to the light that Dexter smashes out, and the fact that both Dex and Deb both have all this "light" in their lives, these people who love them, yet it's making them both unhappy and they sit in the car and commiserate with each other... and we are led to understand that Deb and Dex both prefer "the darkness" because the light overwhelms them.

    3. Yeah. Wow! So impressed with that level of knowledge and awareness.

I would only add that the title is 'Argentina' and not 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' but I guess they wouldn't want to make it such an obvious reference?

Mmm not sure about this one at all. Leaning towards something that happened in the past for someone...

Right, that's why I said "could be", in no way am I saying "it is" or even predicting at a 50/50.

This one is a pure guess, but so far this year no song titles - and it popped into my head so, we'll see.

    1. That's not a terrible guess, but the problem is, why would Doakes ever have gone to Argentina? It was so stable in the 90's that it was granted non NATO ally status.

    2. He was in black ops so that wouldnt matter Haiti isnt in nato either???

You did not understand. I was pointing out that Argentina is actually so close with the U.S. and so stable that they are "near" NATO status. Haiti is not even remotely close.

But Haiti was an unstable regime that had U.S. Military intervention.

Throughout the 90's the United States ran embargoes, got resolutions from the U.N. Security council, ran covert military operations, and twice nearly pulled a full scale invasion on Haiti.

During that same time period, and later, Argentina was stable and a key ally, and transitioning into an economic boom as they were becoming a key supplier of soybeans, et. There would be absolutely no reason for Doakes to be in Argentina during that time frame.

HOWEVER, during that same time period and up to the current times, Argentina has had issues with the Russian Mafia. :)

So... pretty sure, like all Dexter titles, there will be two separate references, and a link with Isaac (Ray Stevenson's character).

  12. Argentina could be a name... a weird name. Seriously, who would name their kid argentina? That is a weirder name than Dexter for a baby.
