Executive Producer Scott Buck on Debra's Dilemma In Dexter Season 7

The first official promotional photo of Dexter Season 7, has been revealed, and it's awesome! Check it out by clicking here. SPOILER ALERT! Let's see what executive producer Scott Buck says about Season 7 on TVGuide.com: Showtime's Dexter is not back until the fall but, oh, the questions we have about the season ahead! What will Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) do now that she's onto Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and his serial-killing ways? And, what's up with the lusty feelings Deb's been having for her brother? OK, adopted brother. But still.

Picking up immediately where the finale left off, Season 7 will open with Debra's horrified reaction to seeing her brother kill last season's baddie, Travis. "Viewers might think we shy away from that moment of Debra walking in and seeing Dexter stabbing into Travis' chest, but it's just the opposite," says executive producer Scott Buck. "She now has to deal with what she's seen and what she knows. And it forces him to defend and define himself."

That's complicated given Deb's romantic feelings for her brother. "It's ironic that people are fine with Dexter jabbing people in the heart but mortified by this romance," says Buck. "We're not shying away from those feelings of hers, either."

  5. See in the books, she knows! So that's not too hard to take for the Jeff Lindsay fans.

  6. Thank you Mr. Buck.

Between this and the Yvonne casting, this is my happiest Dexter day ever.

I cannot believe that my two favorite actresses in the entire world are going to be on screen together, it's like my birthday, Christmas, and Halloween all on one day!!!!

  7. YES! YES! YES! I am so glad that the writers will not shy away from the Deb/Dex storyline. I think that aspect of the storyline made things interesting and I would love to see where it would lead to. In my opinion, it would be a mistake if they shy away from that part of the story since I am sure they are all about getting people to talk about the show. Granted there were things that people did not like (there is always something that people will not like within each season in general anyways as there is no making people happy) but I think the writer's aim was to get people talking about the show. Weather it was likes or dislikes it definitely created a ripple in the Dexter community and I think that is what the writers were aiming for.

  8. There's a difference between moral judgments, and character consistency judgments. Deb's feelings are out of character, not morally repugnant.

  9. Yeah, really brave, they caved into viewers who were asking for this! There is nothing logical about it, other than when they went 'there' the ratings jumped and they are going for them... jeez...
