POLL: Which of These Characters Should Be Promoted to Series Regular In Season 7?

Three new characters first appeared last season on Dexter. Jamie Batista as Angel's sister and Harrison's nanny, Mike Anderson as the new Detective of Miami Metro choosen by Deb and Louis Greene, a lab geek who's not what he seems. Which of them do you think that deserves to be a series regular in Season 7? Vote below!

  1. Neither, they were all pretty boring. Remember when the casting calls for season 6 came out? I thought Mike sounded really great and that he would be a great addition. He had like what? 10 short lines?

I was gonna complain some more but I don't feel like it.

  2. Seriously, why WHICH of them ? ALL of them HAVE to be casted as regular member, at least for the two next seaons :

    - for the CONSISTENCY of the show.

    - because Louis leaving the show would leave one more important subplot unresolved ( the prosthetic hand ).

    - because Mike has just been hired as a detective last season and there is no logical reason for him to leave right now. At the end of season six, Mike had not more than one month of presence in Miami Metro. His disappearance would be as awkward as the Cira Manzon's one.
Yes, he had'not an important role last season. Just as Quinn's one in season three. He will certainly have a more interesting storyline in season 7.

    - Same business concerning Jamie. She's nice, smart, devoted, competent just as Sonia was. Why the hell Dexter would hire another nanie ?? A lot of viewers complained about the lack of explications concerning the departure of Sonia. Do you want one more plot hole again ?

    1. Season 7 is supposed to start right where they left off in season 6 so obviously they will all be there, lets just hope the whole Louis thing ends as soon as possible so they can get going with the incest. Trolololololol

    2. How is Louis preventing the development of the "incest" storyline..? they are both very interesting stories.

    3. Did you just fart? Because you blew me away.

Seriously, what is so interesting about Louis? Myself, I don't want them to go back to the BHB story again.

    4. I farted on your face using a lighter. Does it smell? Louis is here to stay, deal with it. :-)

    5. And what BHB story? How do you know where the Louis story line is taking us? So far the aesthetics call the first season to mind and the character development has zero to do with the Bay Harbor Butcher storyline. If it turns out to be the same i'll come back and apologise to the fart smeller on dexter daily blog.

  3. They all should be back, obviously.

I liked the new dynamic that Anderson brought to Miami Metro. He's an experienced, no-shit detective who looks down on the rest of them (apart from Dexter). This gives him the writers some interesting opportunities for his character.. possibly lining him up as the next lieutenant after Deb goes off the rails following the S6 finale.

Louis obviously knows Dexter is a killer, which begs the question how does he know, and perhaps does he have some relation to Dexter or Brian Moser's past? Dexter also seems to underestimate him (calls him 'intern puppydog'), which suggests that he will end up being a big threat which Dexter doesn't see coming.

Jamie should stay because she is the means for Louis to get closer to Dexter. There would be no reason for her to leave. Also, don't forget that at the end of S6 she was babysitting Harrison when Dexter was at the church (Dexter said he wouldn't be long), so if S7 is going to start without any time lapse she'll need to play some part in explaining the aftermath of Deb's discovery.

  4. Jamie Batista as long as she gets naked more

  5. I chose Chicago Mike. I would want to see Louis continue to develop in the background and remain mysterious. Jaime is really only there because of Harrison, so she might just remain a minor character.

  6. i don't care!
i just want dexter to think more talk less AND HAVE LESS EMOTIONS!

  7. Curious, but why did louis decide to send dexter the hand? was there something in season 6 that i missed about him finding out dexter was related to the ice truck killer? Hes a very adept computer hacker so i am sure he could have found something somewhere, but to my knowledge i have not seen any connecting strings.

  8. Louis and Mike , & I like the theory I read somewhere that Mike is undercover FBI: maybe he will hunt down Dexter & Dexter will set Louis up.

    1. I like that idea a lot but it's not gonna happen. Mike wasn't supposed to get the job in the first place. Laguerta had someone else in mind and Deb ignored her and picked Mike instead.

It would have been perfect though, get rid of Louis early on and have most of the season focusing on Mike as the "bad guy".

    2. i think you just missed me already, that is why you talk about getting rid of Louis. Tight, tight, tight. Louis stays! :-))

  11. Louis is basically Dexter's heir to the throne, even though Dexter doesn't know it. We all know Dex is going down by the end of season 8, but Louis is going to be there to take his place. Once they become more acquainted with each other, Dex will realize that they share a very similar Dark Passenger and Dex will become a sort of mentor for Louis much like Lumen was.

Look at the way Louis is subtly giving Dex hints a la prosthetic hand, much like Brian did at first, about how he knows Dexter's true face. Its a little more than obvious Louis knows something if not everything he just hasn't outed Dexter in hopes of gaining Dex's approval - the whole game development thing didn't really work and might have backfired, but I don't think Louis is out on Crusade against Dexter in the name of all evil serial killers.

Louis has the best possible depth for sub plot story line and may even mesh into the main plot very nicely. Mike and Jamie have really only served as supporting actors and sideline characters. Mike is just the replacement detective and with hardly any major role in season 6, viewers will not likely be disappointed if he isn't given much of a role or even scrapped off the cast all together. Jamie is just the babysitter/girlfriend and has potential to have some major parts, but not enough back story or potential important story to become a major character. She will likely stay for a few episodes in season 7 as a supporting character to Louis, but its not likely she will stay for long.

In the end, I wouldn't be surprised if all these characters stayed, but I think Louis will be given the biggest role.

    1. Also, the role of a new detective points to the possibility that Mike could be leaving. But in all fairness, the new detective could be a replacement for Quinn, who seems like a likely candidate for replacement at long last.

  12. I want all the characters to stay, but if I didn't like them, I wouldn't want them to just not show up in season 7. That would be worst than the fact they existed (again, if I didn't like any of them). It would hurt the series alot if it was treated like some "assembly line"-produced show like CSI where characters come and go randomly, to make room for new ones at the start of each season

  13. Mike Anderson has the most potential as a character. I want to know more - the other two - one is annoying and the other is predictable. I'm betting readers know which is which.
