With Dexter Season 7 beginning production in less than 2 weeks, take our poll regarding the Big Bad of the season. 1. I think needs a 'Big Bad' role but it not to encompass all episodes like DDK on season 6, needs more low profile kills besides tracking the Big Bad one...

On season 6 just the Joe Walker's kill was the most interesting... the rest passed unnoticed or not so exciting like other seasons...

This on my humble opinion.. :p

  2. Without a big bad character the show wouldn't be what it is. I am sorry the whole dexter and deb thing is fine and whatever but if that is what this whole season focuses on it will be my least favorite season. We need more seasons like 5. 5 was epic!

  3. I'd like to see this Big Bad cause I'm from Russia and I'm curious to observe some American stereotypes about us. :D

    1. Margota, I don't think we are stereotyping the average Russian from Russia. As for Russian mobsters, well, we are pretty experienced with those by now. We got plenty over here to take a gander at. Besides, all criminals are pretty much the same - the only difference between an American criminal, a Mexican criminal, or a Russian criminal - are their accents.

  4. I absolutely love it when Dexter has a "Big Bad" to focus his killing energy on. I also hope the writers leave Deb's incestuous feelings about her brother alone. After witnessing her brother kill Travis "DoomsDay Killer", I'm hoping she realizes her lust and her belief that her brother was the perfect man for her was a big Bad mistake. The thought of Dex and Deb in an intimate relationship makes me feel sick. It's not natural in the least.

    1. Renee - you've been watching an actor pretending to be a serial killer and slicing people up for six years and were un-phased, but now you are telling me two actors that used to be married pretending to be two unrelated foster siblings in love "makes you sick" and that it's not "natural"?????

When people say insanely stupid stuff like this, it makes me realize that we really need to fix our school system so we can start educating our children again instead of churning out illiterate imbeciles. I remember the days when 12 year old kids could read Shakespeare and watch "I Claudius" at school - and not bat an eye about any of the incest or orgies or mayhem going on there, because we all realized IT WAS PART OF THE F***ING STORY!

    2. Oh and PS - anyone is entitled to an opinion such as "I didn't like that story" but when people jump on the "morality throne" and say things like "it makes me sick" "it's not natural" or "it disgusts me" on a show about a serial killer, then I am going to call bullshit and point out just how moronic the statement is - nothing personal.

I enjoy a good yarn, I don't want my art caged by really stupid out-of-the-blue imposed morality that makes no sense.

    3. Stop saying it's incest! It's NOT. They are NOT brother and sister and most importantly, they have never behaved brother/sister way... Their relationship has always been somehow different, the were more close to each other, on the other hand it was rather "best friends" like... And when two people who have been best friends since kindergarten find romantic interest in each other, nobody is going to think it's wrong, right?
Just when in comes to Dexter, that has always been "morality re-defining" show after all, people seem to see it otherwise...

  5. I don't care whether there's a Big Bad, or a Little Bad, or whatever. I just want my well-written, creepy, funny, original show back. All these fan polls are kind of worrying me. It's the writers' job to write the show, not the fans. Art by committee never works. If the writers do a good job, the fans will be happy, if not, well, we'll bitch on the internet like we always do.

But since they keep asking what we want, I want Jamie and Chicago Mike to die horrible, but entertaining, deaths, the sooner the better. And please no more Maria 'n' Angel drama. And please don't let that thing with Louis and the ITK hand go nowhere. And please don't f*ck up the whole Deb-finds-out-about-Dex thing. We've been waiting six years to see it, pleasepleaseplease don't let it be lame. Also, Quinn is finally interesting so please don't kill him.

I share your fear. As a fan of the show, the idea of any writer tailoring their stories to suit fan reactions scares the hell out of me. It makes me feel like the art I enjoy is being held hostage by people who have poop for brains. I can smell it dripping out of their ears, and this is not a good thing.

I have recently gotten addicted to Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, and I have this sense of security about those shows, because I know, that no matter what people say - the writers are going to do their own thing, the outcome is set in stone and driven by the characters and writers only, and that gives me such a great sense of relief and comfort.

I loved that they never did the whole "Skyler still doesn't know" for like 4 or 5 years on Breaking Bad... nope, she finds out in season 2, and the writers put her in a position where she not only accepts, she get's involved. The story just keeps moving things along, and I love that.

To be honest, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter could sit in a white room and read scripts to each other and I'd probably watch them - they are just that compelling. Season 1 and 2 were heavy on the Dex&Deb and that was what salvaged 6 in my opinion. More of that, and I am happy.

"But since they keep asking what we want"
Writers aren't asking anything. Each poll here is an initiative from the webmaster of this blog.

And hopefully because if the writers takes into account the opinion of the fans here, the show will become more formulaic than ever. With a seasont-long serial killer each year.

80% of the audience just can't manage to identify what really made the show so great in the earliest seasons. Most of them thinks it's due to the format Dexter vs a badass serial killer. It's what most of the Dexter related forums and commentaries in the web let show.

In fact, since the audience is so easy to satisfy, then it no longer surprises me that the writers are performing less and less efforts in great storytelling and great dialogues.
We have the show we deserves.

    1. This post was fucking hysterical!

Yea, I believe you, because wives always say "we watch it because it doesn't have a lot of stupid mushy stuff!"

I know mine is just that way! HA!

That's why she makes me sit through that twilight shit, because she hates the mushy stuff.

Sorry, but nobody is going to stop watching Dexter over a love story. The show has been about love stories since the very beginning - about a monster struggling to find love.

  10. I would like Dexter having to face a big bad guy wich would be a big "company" of killers-rapists(not so much)-or "beaters",or something bad whatever.
AND when the things would go wrong and he couldn't respond to all the presure, lumen would show up and help him clean the place.
In the same time deb would find a new guy,and marry him.She would also keep dexs and lumens secret safe.

    1. Not Lumen again. This ugly girl would destroy the season.I hate her and I don't want to see her again.I prefer to watch her helping the Big Bad and finely Dexter kills her!!!!!!!!

      Delete
    2. Oh God... You still didn't manage to get used to how things changed? That Lumen is gone and is never going back (thanks God... ) because she WASN'T the same as Dexter, neither she was right partner for him? And that Deb might actually be the right woman for Dexter after all?
Stop making sick plot ideas and try to enjoy and appreciate what the writers came up with...

  11. I want DEXTER to be the BIG BAD again!!! It seems each season, there are fewer and fewer kills...grrr :(

    1. 5:46 You don't even know what you are talking about. There were as many or MORE kills in Season 6 than any other season.

Nicholas already counted them out for us.

    2. Anon 6:20 - Exactly. Why do people have to complain about things in season 6 that even didn't happen like they say?

      Delete
    3. Because they are deluded Moony - they can't think for themselves.

A: Most of them haven't even watched all the seasons of the show or paid attention to what is going on.

B: If some random website says "season 6 isn't as good" they will just believe it without actually watching or deciding for themselves - because that is what our society has degenerated to, people who are "told" what to think.

C: They see "change" and cannot handle it. Michael C. Hall is getting older, he has gone through cancer and other things, not only has he changed emotionally, but he has changed physically - he no longer looks the same on screen, his portrayal of Dexter is "harder" more "cynical" and at the same time more "human". He portrays the character as a little bit "weary" - he is no longer the happy mad slasher. Rather than understand THAT and accept change, people want to return to the carefree past and force things to be as they cannot ever be again. Of course they lack the intelligence or wisdom to see it, so they make up phony complaints.

I understand. I want to be 25 years old again. You know what would be cool? A new Pink Floyd album with Waters back in the band, and they would sound the same as they did in the 1970's and write songs that were just that way! But that isn't going to happen, because time changes us all and we need to move on, especially in art. You cannot "stay" in a place forever.

It would not be genuine if Deb was never able to figure out her true feelings - it also would not be genuine if Dexter did not have this breakdown eventually and ALLOW himself (subconsciously) to get caught by Debra. This is part of the journey - and discerning fans are loving it.

However, the hooter-heads will keep on missing the point. ;)

      Delete
    4. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that Dexter subconsciously WANTED (or at least didn't mind) to get caught by Debra :)
After all, through all the seasons we can see that Dexter wants someone who will know his secret, who will understand that and still be there for him - first it was Lila (even thought you could say it was Brian first), then Miguel and the last try was Lumen... No one was good enough... And now he probably subconsciously realised that the right person is Debra, it has always been her... :)

    5. Moony - yes, exactly.

  12. Big Bad is really needed for the show. I just want the show as soon as possible.

  13. I want this maniac nerd (Louis Greene) to be the next killer in Miami and the best way to get get rid of him is to be killed by Dexter at Brian's house...
He thinks he would get through Dexter without being killed...
Also a great idea is that Harry and Brian be there and talking to Dexter right before killing him...

    1. His Superego and his Id duking it out? The only way that could end would inevitably be Harry winning. What that means, whether sparing him or not, only the writers could tell.

  14. Kepiachkz -

Showtime actually sent out an incredibly detailed poll about the upcoming season. Stuff like what characters do you want to see more of, what do you want to happen with Dex and Deb, etc. I guess they sent it to people who were registered on the Sho.com message board. I saw it because someone posted a link.

It was horrifying. HORRIFYING. It was like a f*cking market resarch poll about a new brand of salsa or something. So yeah, the producers ARE soliciting fan opinion, which I think we all agree is a terrible idea.

So anyway, that's what my comment was about.
