Edward James Olmos to Attend Emerald City Comicon

Via thenewstribune.com: Emerald City Comicon announced yesterday that they’ve just added actor Edward James Olmos to the lineup of celebrity guests.
Olmos first hit the big time back in the 80s in the pastel-colored 80s police drama “Miami Vice” and the classic sci-fi film “Blade Runner.” More recently he starred in the fan favorite sci-fi series “Battlestar Galactica.”

Olmos is a Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning, Oscar and Tony nominated actor and activist. ECCC runs March 30-April 1st, 2012 at the Washington State Convention Center. Olmos will be appearing Friday only.

Olmos has made a career out of taciturn figures of authority like his recent role as Commander Adama in the reboot of the sci-fi series “Galactica.” He’s also known for his role as the origami making Gaff in Ridley Scott’s 1982 “Blade Runner.”

But Olmos has also given memorable performances in non sci-fi films. He played Jaime Escalante in the 1988 school drama “Stand and Deliver” and played a Chicano gang member in “American Me.” He also starred in the theatrical and film versions of “Zoot Suit” early in his career. Olmos is an activist for Latino causes and served as an international ambassador to UNICEF.
