  1. Is 7th Season going to start in following September or earlier? Does anybody have an idea on that?

  3. uhhh.. is my green mortuary service idea on the table? hehehey.

dexter buys into a funeral business that composts the clients. and gives the relatives a clean, safe organic soil ammendment.

I've got details, perfect for dexter's geeky side. and a perfect way to process bodies after work..

They are frozen, then chipped up in a big wood chipper.. and composted in individual plastic barrels, the biogas used to make green energy to run the plant. amazingdrx

  5. Ghosts ghosts and more ghosts!

Ghost Trinity is going to wreak havoc on downtown Miami, ghost Brian is gonna convince Dexter to kill people while ghost Brother Sam tries to convince him to pray. THEN, ghost Rita is gonna save the day but ONLY AFTER they reveal that ghost Trinity was actually a GHOST after all!

  6. Really looking forward to see what's next.

There are some plot elements that I really really liked this year.

And... um, anything to do with Deb. Especially when she is doing the slicked back pony tail look. (See the "I don't need a chair, I need a table" scene)

Also, I don't care what some of the kiddies say, this bizarre love story twist has been the best plot development since we first figured out that Rudy was Dexter's brother. I hope they stay with it into the last two seasons.

The best parts of the show are always when Dexter and Deb are in the same scene.

  7. I agree Debra and Dexter are the best together. People should grow up and accept it as it is. The writers tried so hard to make the doomsday killer(s) interesting this season but they failed because I couldn't care less about them.
More debra and dexter scenes please in the future.

they made us care a lot about brian and trinity. and admit it, you cared more about chase and miguel than you do about travis. This is a failure on the writers part, and you cant blame the appeal of Dexter or Deb when the real problem is the awful writing.

The problem is that they are trying to "top" themselves. They went for a grandiose plot and shocking kill scenes rather than character. Trinity and ITK, and yes, even chase and Miguel, were more character driven.

DDK was so flashy, and plot driven, that we never got to connect with him or identify with anything he did. The Gellar side story as a plot device only further alienated us from the character. These things are easy to do as a writer though. Writing for an established audience and trying to meet expectations is about the most difficult thing there is.

For me though, Deb Morgan salvaged this season. I adore her journey and her character more than ever. I can't wait to see her explore these feelings and what Dexter's reaction is when he finds out his sister is in love with him. I bet the narration is riveting.

  10. As to the Dex/Deb thing. This has caused some huge debates all across the net. Rather than go down that road, I am just going to cut and paste from the boards - from a post that gets right to the heart of the matter of why it could work, and probably what the writers think they will achieve by "going there".

I want them to write the show as they think it should be, and to explore the paths that the characters and performances take them down. I have no expectations. I hated Rita's death but I went with it, because I knew the one reward out of that would be to further explore the Dexter/Deb dynamic in a much more intimate way. I think it would be tragic to have killed her off and then just back away from this because people are uncomfortable with it.

Sometimes the best storylines are the ones that make us the most uncomfortable.

The only way for Dexter to become fully human and therefore tragic, is to engage fully in the most human of experiences. "Love" and it has to be a major love. That can't happen with Rita, Lumen is gone, and I don't want to start a whole new female lead for the last two seasons.

Deb is the necessary and logical character to explore it with at this point. It would be foolish to throw that away and focus only on grand serial killers and the thriller aspect of the show ... because we have all seen now, that it is going to be next to impossible to top the ITK and Trinity. It's the characters that need to take us home.

The problem with Harrison is that it is not an adult relationship. Harrison has no choice but to love his father, it's the instinct of a child to cling to the parent, even if the parent sucks. As a young child he is entirely dependent, reliant, and devoted to his father. There is no relationship and won't be until he becomes an adult. Likewise, this child is a part of Dexter, it is not "the other" we already know he will die for the kid. There are even animals that will die for their offspring, this is not a gauge of humanity, there are no risks.

A gauge of ones humanity is the kind of love that comes with risks. In order to love Deb, Dexter would have to put himself at TREMENDOUS risk. It would be the ultimate defiance of Harry's code in light of Dexter trying to become more human and proving he is not a monster. (simply going off the rails and murdering innocents on the other hand, would prove he WAS a monster).

Rita was no risk, she was really kind of dense for the most part. That was why she worked for him. Deb would be the ultimate test, for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the extreme attention it would draw to them if anyone found out.

Someone else here made a great joke in referencing Doakes and what he would say about Dexter and Deb. "I always knew you were a freak!" That's really funny, but also poignant to the story.

If they engage in a relationship, it would almost certainly cause people to get suspicious and it would almost certainly lead to Dexter getting found out - because even his friends would turn against him.

And finally the #1 reason it needs to happen: Vince Masuka's commentary after the fact.

  11. Why does anyone want this to happen? This is so stupid and absurd... I feel like these messageboards have been taken over by soap opera diehards. What, have all you idiots been waiting since season 1 for dexter and deb to makeout? Thats not the point of the F***ing show and if its what you want there is plenty of garbage on daytime TV to deliver it for you.

The whole "love" aspect, ya, i kind of get it...and if it cant be with Harrison, then it should be with Astor or Cody. Under NOOOOO circumstances should it be with Deb. This is just so idiotic it's hard to take this shit seriously. Dexter was adopted by Harry at AGE THREEE! For all intents and purposes him and Deb are BROTHER AND SISTER. If you found out at age 30 something that the sister you've known since you were an infant was not blood related to you, would you still - EVER - think about her romantically? No.

    1. Yeah but are you a serial killer? I hope not. Dexter and Deb clearly have different outlooks on life because of their past. Maybe this is a direct result of that and it is just their way of sticking together, who knows.

      Delete
  12. IN addition to the above post, i HATE Astor and Cody, but even their return (specifically Astor's) would be FAR preferable to this show turning into a soap opera.

  13. 9:13 and 9:15

We get that you don't like it. But like most people who don't like that plot, you just pretty much kicked your feet and screamed at the top of your lungs.

You are right. It's too late in the game to bring Astor and Cody back, Rita is dead. And I have a few nickles that tells me you were one of the people who wanted her dead so bad.

What were people saying at the time? "I hate Rita, I hate Rita! They should just kill Rita and have Dex get with his sister!"

Too late to back out now!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I don't care about Rita, I don't care about Debra and Dexter romance either. They can put some love in the plot, but it must be known the PORTION it could take. THIS IS DEXTER, NOT GOSSIP GIRL OR GREY'S ANATOMY FOR CHRIST'S SAKE! Some people are watching the wrong series. A mexican soap opera is what your hearts are claiming for.

  15. I think in season 6 louis is rudys son!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Louis is too old to be Rudy's son. I do however think that Dex and Deb are biologically related. I think the reason Harry adopted him is because he slept with Dex's mom. As for season 7....I can't wait

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That can't be because in the flashback of Dex being sick in hospital as a child, they got blood from a "donor" that was Dexter's biological father. He made the thankyou card and everything...

      Delete
    2. He's not really too old to be Rudy's son. He's a college intern, and Rudy is Dexter's older brother. In season 6, Dexter goes to his 20 year high school reunion, making him around 38 or 39. Rudy, being older, as depicted in the show, would probably be about 43 or so (at the time frame of season 6), thus making Lewis as his kid believable and possible if Rudy became his father around age 18-22.

And no... Dexter and Deb are not biologically related... wow lol.

      Delete
    3. Masuka ran a blood test in season 1 when Dexter, Rita, Deb and Rudy (Brian) were at Joe Driscoll's house proving he was Dexter's biological father. End of story....

    4. Is Deb adopted as well? I can't remember. If so, we no NOTHING about her biological parents.

If not adopted, then forget I ever 'spoke'...

  17. I'm just glade Dexter's still going. thats the worst thing to come to, that the shows over, i bet for all the season 6 episode 11 promos we all saw, if we didn't know that there was going to be a scheduled season 7 & 8 for sure, we would all have been freakin' out!. shoot, from the first scene of the first episode this season, i really thought he was stabbed, they got me good! I think it was an excellent season. As for all this love and Dex with a love partner, it's just gotta go. i mean it seems as if these writers are avoiding his dark passenger, i mean a full exploration. human connectedness i know, i understand most just need that, but Dexter isn't human! I thought from the beginning of this season to when brother sam died that we were gonna see the free, confidant, successful, bloodthirsty dexter, and we did for most of the season, but they always retort back to finding someone to connect to, a sidekick, or a dumb blonde! I agree you can only go so far until your show turns into an expensive contemporary soap opera, i love this show way to much for that to happen, i also hope that seasons 7 & 8 are not the end of it.
And i can't wait to see what kind of kills and encounters with Dex Louis Greene has to show for us, " thanks dex for making me see that i have to make something of my life"! (kills, not video game kills, REAL KILLS) Louis at this seasons finale says " he's given up the vid games to Dex, and Masuka, YEAH! to kill real people, in real life! all those shots of him clearly looking at Dex, and the ice truck killer hand in the box? they always throw us something we can sort of figure out what will happen next, then something we are defiantly in the dark about and gonna have to stay tuned and watch unfold.
but 4 real though...screw this noise they should have never killed DOAKES!

  18. The Dexter and Deb dynamic this season was a key factor. People keep forgetting that Dexter and Deb are not biologically related so while its weird that the would deleop feelings for eachother it makes perfect sense. Dexter even said in season 1 if he could feel love for anyone it would be Deb. Someone said it would be more likely to get caught if he and Deb got together I think the complete opposite Deb is in a position to cover for him and as Matthews and Laguerrta both pointed out she needs to learn how to play the game I feel like this opportunity presented itself at the right time.Neither of them would find true love outside of eachother because of the baggage the each have its makes sense that the only person who would except Dexters baggage is Deb and visa versa. I agree that DDK this season wasnt a good charcter connection to the audience and once you discover the side story of Gellar it really just throws you off about who you thought Travis was. And Louis isnt to old to be Rudy's son do the math Dexer graduated from highschool 20nyrs ago which makes him approximately 38 Rudy would be 40 which means he could have a son Louis in his 20's. There's no way the Dexter and Debra are actually related because Dexter would already know based on Harry's autopsy and blood work. I also think that Harry's ghost would support Deb/Dexter relationship because Harry knows that he alienated Deb because he was "helping" Dexter but if the end up having something Deb will forgive her father and it kinda ties the whole family dynamic together.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think the Dexter & Deb in love idea is a good idea to 'play about with' but that is all. I like the idea of them being brother and sister in actuality - like someone said, that they are biologically related, through Harry. The whole dynamic between the two works really well as is, but should it change by them becoming romantically involved, what we've come to love about the free-flowing quirkiness of Dexter and Deb's interractions, will likely become a 'contrived' and not a 'natural' progression of their relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Soap opera??? Really guys?????? There's always been a bit of romance in this show. Rita, Lilah, lumen and now Deb. Then some of the other romantic stories. Laguerta and Batista etc. This Dexter and Deb love story will be good for the show trust me!

Dexter's biological father is not Harry!!!! His biological father is Joe or something, the guy with tattoo. You must not be a real fan.

And incest don't make me barf, not even close! Either way I don't care it's just a tv show. I will be glued to my tv.

  22. Well I truly am a Dexter fan, I enjoy all the aspects of Dexter's disconnected existence, I do not see how allowing Deb to discover his dark side will enhance his relationship with her,at least not with two seasons to go . I know the show.is fantasy but I do not believe that I would like to kiss much less make love to someone that I have known and lived with as my brother it just doesn't work for me . I see Deb may at first THINK she is in love with Dexter but I hope on further reflection she realizes otherwise .

  23. I most definitely agree with the above poster. It was a nice twist, but not realistic. The believability of this show is what makes it so great... but this is a bit too far, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Gotta agree with most commentators here; the Dex/Deb thing is best left for daytime soaps, not here! I mean, really, the show's paying Michael C Hall 20 mil, plus! Well deserved, but even the best acting will fall hopelessly flat with a shitty storyline. So why not throw 10 million alone just to get the plot exceptionally polished? We already had a showstopper in the last 5 seconds of the finale, so the talent / potential is there....more of that....not the soapie stuff please! Yes, I get the writers want to explore the relationship, and add to the shock factor; my opinion: the colloquial 'icky factor' will detract from the show and drive away viewership as opposed to increasing it!!!

  25. I have watched the show and have thus far thoroughly enjoyed it. Although I agree with the fact that 2 seasons are not nearly enough time for them to fully show us what their take on this latest development will be, I am still quite literally inches away from harming my laptop out of sheer frustration due to the fact that we have to wait all the way into September for the next season to kick off.

The first 5 seasons have had a more complete feel, especially through the narrator's comments right at the end, it gave it a sense of finality and left just enough to make you watch the upcoming season without being overly preoccupied in regard to the time you would have to wait for that first episode of the next season to be aired. Season 6 on the other hand quite literally surprised viewers (although upon reviewing of the episode you could have guessed what was coming, at least to some extent) by leaving us on the edge of Dexter's knife. What this'll do to Deb remains to be seen. If Dexter will even find out about Deb's feelings for him remains to be seen.

Everyone makes his own predictions for what's coming next but I try to refrain from doing so and am simply looking forward to see what these wonderful people come up with.

That's my opinion on the matter.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I would like to address another possible storyline for season 7/8, and that is...Would Deb have a dark passenger of her own? We already know that her blood is blue, meaning she puts the sheild above all else. But as established in season 5 when Deb shot Fuentes, some people don't deserve to live. Debs desire to always catch killers definitely stems from her drive to impress Harry, but is it possible that she would ever step outside the law to put a killer down?

We know dexter is "born in blood", and we know after Lumen's rape/torture, she was born in blood too. But Deb's seen more than her share of horrors. IE, seeing the Lundy shooting, Rita's Death, Rudy's true Identity and now Dexter's true dark side. Will Deb Join Dexter's crusade? She could use her position as Liutennant to help Dex find his next Kills.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The entire problem with all of this, is Michael (the actor that plays Dexter) cheated on Jennifer (the actress that plays Debra that was his WIFE) with Julia Stiles (which played Lumen in 10 episodes). The dynamics of the show will be quite different in the future.

  32. I find it really annoying and frustrating when people complain about it turning into a soap opera and nagging about the complex love story that's coming to surface between Debra and Dexter. I think this turn is extremely necessary for Dexter's character development and in some way, complementary to it. Throughout the seasons, we've seen Dexter show more signs of genuine emotion and a massive capability to have deep, meaningful relationships with people whether or not they have shown criminalistic attributes. Without a doubt, this show is facing reality and is making more of a story out of it as opposed to a bland repetition of Dexter's sarcastic, emotionless witty comments and killing here and there, and catching the serial killer before the department gets to them. I have to admit DDK was unbearably boring to me and I postponed watching the show for weeks, but the only reason I clung onto it is because of Deb and the whole dilemma circulating. I can't imagine who could've dealt with watching DDK only without the Deb love story twist. I love how the show is really working on Dexter, how they're making it as realistic as possible; how, for once, I actually see a strong sense of emotion in Dexter's eyes. Yes, I miss the person he was in seasons 1 & 2 because he was hilarious but even I can imagine how sick of the show I would've gotten if he didn't change. This was needed. What I feel might be or would be the most appropriate series finale is that Dexter finale becomes "normal" and can live without having these urges to kill just to have him get caught somehow, possibly by someone vindictive-looking like Louis, and get sent to jail. I think if he were to be killed it would take away the tremendous dose of irony that was built up by his killing people instead of placing them under the law's hands. He will realize how easy all his victims had it, to have died for their crimes as opposed to living through years of incarceration and mental torment and guilt. Emotional processes are what I believe to be the most vital concept in this show. And as much as I loathe a tragic ending, because I am sucker for catharsis; I think it would serve as such a (strangely) beautiful and artistic ending that fits perfectly with the show.
