Dexter Morgan

He'll charm fellow officers with doughnuts, spend a Sunday doting on his toddler son, or chop up a victim and sink the parts in the bay in plastic bags. Hiding beneath the mundane exterior and contrived façade of Dexter, a seemingly shy blood spatter expert for the Miami police, is an obsession with meting out his own twisted brand of justice. A year after suffering a heartbreak he appears to be living the good life, until he's suddenly confronted full on with a crisis of faith, both figuratively and literally.

Debra Morgan

As Dexter puts it about his cop sister, "If I could have feelings at all, I'd have them for Deb." Debra loves and looks up to Dexter — but also senses there is more to him than meets the eye. But now with changes happening in the homicide department of Miami Metro, Debra's professional and personal relationship with her brother could be changed forever.

Joey Quinn

Quinn and Debra's relationship has gotten serious — serious enough for Quinn to want to take it to the next level. But a sudden change in the department changes their working relationship, and their personal bond is put to its strongest test yet.

Vincent Masuka

Always quick with an inappropriate remark, Masuka is the wisecracking forensic expert who assists Dexter in crime scene investigations. Now he's starting an internship program for promising students from the forensics class he's teaching, and the parade of interns under his questionable care keeps him guessing.

Maria LaGuerta

Long the Miami homicide division's boss and resident dictator, LaGuerta gets promoted and removed from direct contact with her department. But she still manages to pull the strings from a distance, particularly with her former husband Angel Batista.

Angel Batista

A fellow homicide detective, Batista works closely with Dexter on forensics cases. While he may not share Dexter's blood lust, he definitely appreciates the art of killing. Angel appears to be next in line for the position of lieutenant in charge of the department, but his complicated relationship with recent-ex LaGuerta could complicate matters.

Harry Morgan

Harry Morgan, Dexter's adoptive father and a former homicide detective, was first to spot Dexter's passion for human vivisection and helped his son channel his homicidal impulses into a more constructive pursuit: vigilante justice. Long dead and now appearing only to Dexter in visions, Harry tries hard to keep his twisted son on the path he set for him.
