Dexter - The Time Jump Between Season 5 & 6

A lot of things has been said about the time jump between Season 5 and Season 6. The last season ended with Lumen leaving Dexter, and Harrison's first birthday party. But, how much time passed after episode 5.12? Read more after the jump...

Dexter Season 6 will take place 2 or 3 years after the season 5 finale. Harrison will be 4 years old and he will be on preschool. It looks that the Lumen situation will be completely forgotten.

  5. I agree with you Kevin! It will be weird. But thank God Lumen is gone.

  6. Great idea!!! Dexter needs a time jump to focus on Harrison a lot more. I hope there's another tiome jump in Season 7 as well, and we get to see a grown up Harrison.

  11. I liked Lumen. I think she added depth to Dexters character. Sad to here she's gone.

  12. can someone please explain to me the logic behind there being a time jump which somehow means no more lumen? Is lumen from a different universe and can only exist in the dexter universe for a year or two before going back to her home planet?

I DISAGREE. BETWEEN SEASON 3 AND 4 WE HAD A TIME JUMP ONE YEAR AFTER DEXTER AND RITA'S WEDDING. AND SEASON 4 WAS A BRILLIANT SEASON.

  16. I really miss Lumen, but I´m looking forward new season.

wow you really don't have a taste of sexy women :P. Jennifer Carpenter is not that sexy, she has a quite strange face. Julia Stiles (Lumen) is just ugly... Julie Benz however is a beautiful lady, even for her age.

And jeez I really cant wait to see Dexter be a really strange dad to Harrison (seriously, who came up with that name lol)

3 more months ladies and gentlemen!

  18. I was thinking Harrison was sort of named after Harry...but with a spin on it lol

  19. Lumen were are you come back please

  20. Meh. I miss Rita's sexiness. She was definitely prettier than Lumen or Deb. I try to find Deb attractive but it's hard with all the retarded facial expressions she does lol

  21. People are not real smart. There was all of a few minutes passing in Dexter's world between season 4 and 5. And Dexter says that it was about a month after he saved Lumen that they started hunting down her monsters. So it could be said that only a couple months passed from the end of season 4 to the end of 5. So with the time jump it should be still 2011. Not some over the top futuristic bullshit like some of the other comments suggest.

  22. disregard that last post. I didnt read the whole article before commenting. My bad.

  23. If there will be a time jump I hope it isn't too much of a jump as the actors who play Astor and Cody won't be able to play them any more, which would suck because they are really great actors.

  24. Good point made about astor and cody are they even going to feature in this series? Seems like alot of the stories will be involving moss def and the new characters

  25. PLEASE Bring Lumem back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love her!

  26. Hate Lumen... :D
It's cool that jump but is big... One year will be perfect...

  27. Julia Styles was just a cranky broad that didn't want to remain with the show and felt she had bigger and better things to do. I liked her character, but good ridance to her if she thinks she is too important to stick with this show for a while.

  28. Thats awesome news...throughout 5th season she was the irritating character...we miss rita...but happy with debra...

  29. Lumens story ended, it was good but can't see her story going anywhere now though. Hope she stays gone in a good way.

  30. Everyone hated Rita.. So it doesn't surprise me people hate Lumen too.. Season 5 was a great recovery season for Dexter to get back on his game which was sloppy to say the least in the 4th season. My two only complaints about the ENTIRE fith season was Deb not finding out her brother is a killer and how Lumen leaving felt rushed. Like overnight she just realized how fucked up everything was even though before that she was basically murdering people like Dexter did. If season 6 doesn't have Deb catching Dexter I would be disappointed. I think Deb catching Dexter would have given Season 5 a better ending because she felt ready for that as far as her character went, but over all I understand they wanted to be able to time skip and have Dexter be settled an ready for new adversaries.

  31. simply hated luman.

  32. Please remind me how Dexter was back on his game in season 5. He left his coffee cup on the roof of his car and forgot about it, almost got caught by Deb twice, flipped his car *again*, and fell for the next woman he saw almost immediately after Rita's death.

Anyway, in relation to the actual article, I really hope this is not true. Cody and Astor would have to be completely eliminated from the story-line if that's the case. That'd be too easy, like last season. Dexter should be made to take responsibility for his actions.

  33. A time jump gives the opportunity to organize any contract's dispute, when the waters settle down we might see that time lapse in a future season...

    ReplyDelete
  34. nice of someone to speak for everyone and say everyone hated Rita lol. Rita was fantastic, where Lumen was a mistake. season 5 was a sloppy Dexter, understandable, but still not on his game. Deb went nowhere in season 5 just being a scapegoat and finding another dick. a lot of poeple who watched s5 will not know what Dexter is really like! roll on 6!

  35. Dexter takes place in present times. If they do a time jump of 2-3 years, then it really will be flying cars, hoverboards and power laces! Just leave it in 2011. The only point of jumping is to do more stuff with Harrison, so I expect that.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh man Dexter Season 6 is gonna be great!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I dont like that Luman left, she was perfect for Dexter & Harrison

    ReplyDelete
  38. Luman was a total fox, but She couldn't have stuck around. I don't care about the time jump. Such a great show, I'm sure it'll be fine!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Luman had NOTHING for Rita as far as straight sexiness and looks, and anyone whos commenting that nobody liked rita or Rita was attractive need to seriously see an eye doctor. Just Google the actresses under the image tab, Styles is okay, had a cuteness to her in some pics, but Rita is just SEXY no question. The scene where she first strips down naked and hops on Dexter on the couch and see her silhouette... COME PPL!! Damn!

  40. The whole reason for killing Rita off the way they did for the season 4 finale was bc she was such a loved character by the fans. Thats what makes dexter finding out after he kills Trinity such a great cinematic scene. Id nobody cared for the character of Rita then that finale wouldnt have near the impact it did or been as raved about and as great of and episode and worthy of a season finale for a such a well thought out and written show as Dexter.
